Shaq Is Single
Shaquille O’Neal has filed for divorce from Shaunie O’Neal, his wife of nearly five years.
“The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” says his petition, filed Tuesday by attorney Ira Elegant.
The easy (and immature) joke here, of course, is to blame a certain former teammate of O’Neal’s for the breakup of the telegenic couple. You’d think that I’m above making said joke, and you’d be wrong.
Speaking of immature jokes, can you imagine being Shaunie’s rebound guy and trying to replace Shaq? Yikes! Talk about pressure.

Shaunie’s set for life (and fine), their kid’s, grandkid’s and their grandkid’s grandkid’s are set for life. Shaq will stay low-pro for a while and Shaunie will hook up quietly. Although if Kobe divorces Vanessa, a Shaunie/Mamba hookup would be unreal. And Shaq’s a moron. He could have held this off until he was retired. For what it’s worth,and perhaps it’s wishful thinking on my part, but I think they’ll work it out. Something tells me this was about a big mistake and will get worked out once the heat cools. These two were friends for quite awhile longer than their 5 year marriage. As for the “golddigger” stuff, you don’t have 4 kids with a guy if all you want is to be taken care of. Nobody wants to have to raise 6 kids by themselves. So get off that one guys.

As we are seeing in the case of Michael Vick, your “rich” status can be taken away in the blink of the eye. All they had to do is suspend his contract and pull his endorsements, and he’s back living at his grandma house… When you’re wealthy, you’re on a whole different level.

It doesn’t matter if she even signed a pre-nup because she will still get her half. A pernup only protects what you brought into the relationship, not what you earned while together. Assuming they were together for the last 7-8 years, possibly longer, she will still get half of what hey made during that time, which is more than $200 million including endorsements. There is no way for Shaq to protect himself from this.

There is a way for Shaq to be protected, because if she was indeed committing adultery, those are grounds to where he is not obligated to her for any financial support only the kids.
