Somewhere, the refs just called a foul on Wade’s wife. 2 shots!

Jas says:
The Heat signed Charlie Bell to an offer sheet. WHY? They already have Williams and Smush at the one and Wade, Hardaway and Cook at the 2.
Sep.17 at 5:07 pm
Myles Brown says:
If this is true, it seems like now the question will be whether this will drive Shaq and Wade to focus more on the basketball court or their guilt free dalliances.

good one bodie

jbn74sb says:
Myles - You think they feel guilt?
Jas - You answered your own question. With Smush and Williams at the helm, they need all the help they can get.

Myles Brown says:
I may be naive, but Wade always seemed like a genuine dude. He’s one of the last NBAers I’d expect to read this about. But it is hard to turn them ALL down…

Yes it is, Myles, yes it is.

You have to be a strong man to stay faithful in the NBA. Are you have to stay in your room all night like Dwight Howard.

A point guard the Lakers wish they could acquire.

Reggie Evans says:
Nothing to be bummed about, actually - why should you be with someone you don’t want to be with, and on the flip side, why should you be with someone who doesn’t want to be with you? The kids can tell if you don’t like each other.
Sep.17 at 6:56 pm
jbn74sb says:
Yeah - Charlie Bell’s services are in high demand. The Bucks phones have been deluged with phone calls, and they have had to get more bandwith because their website continues to crash.

Skillet Forilla says:
Yeah, there is no way that a guy voted sexiest dude in America, twice, should have to be married to Mrs. Ed.
Sep.17 at 7:54 pm
jbn74sb says:
Skillet - It troubles me that you know this. And you’re making eboy very jealous. Watch you back, in more ways that one.

charlie bell actually is pretty good but milwakee will keep him
Sep.17 at 8:04 pm
Gerard Himself says:
Jas: why are you wondering why the signed Bell to an offer sheet? You named guys like Williams and Hardaway but Bell is actually a very decent player who at least played 82 games last season, and with consistency too. If Miami does end up with Bell, it would be the first good thing they’ve done this whole summer. They could even play with three guards at the same time sometimes, like they did in Milwaukee (Williams, Redd Bell), putting Williams, Wade and Bell on the floor. Bell can score (3-ball), is a more than capable defender, and hand out an assist when needed. No, I’m not his agent, but I don’t get it that you can’t understand why the Heat want him, since there are very obvious reasons why. Every team can use a guy like him.
Sep.17 at 9:12 pm
ION MIC says:
Gerard: except i cant see Wade playing the 3 like Redd, especially not on defense the guy is like 6″4 in his ex wifes heels. Unless the refs start calling fouls on wades defenders for being too tall.

Wow. I don’t know what to say. I was away from the computer all day and I come back to this?? I’m sad about the Wades, if it is indeed true. I’m not going to buy it yet, until I hear it from “hard” sources. Thye Bell deal on the other hand, is a nice one as long as the Bucks don’t match. And with Charlie saying he doesn’t want to return, they may just let him go. The issue is, though, Riley spoke recently about cutting salary. 5 years/18 million ain’t a bad contract. I’m rambling now so I’ll go to bed. Maybe this is a dream I’m having…

Ryan Jones says:
Myles is naive. Don’t worry dude, I used to be naive too. Then I started working at Slam and spending time in NBA lockerrooms. Suffice it to say, no news I could’ve heard today would be less surprising than this. I’m not saying that to call out D-Wade (although his fame and pretty face make this even less surprising than it would be other wise… and the rumors were out there) but this is the reality of these guys’ lives. You know how mafia guys in movies are pretty much obligated to have a girl (or girls) on the side? I’d argue it’s not much difference. It’s the culture, and it’s pretty much expected of them. Yet another reason, if you still needed one, not to admire these guys for anything other than their talent.
Sep.18 at 8:39 am
Cheryl says:
Thanks for that, Ryan. I’d really did think Wade was “different”. Wake up call accepted. Dude can ball, though. No pun intended.
Sep.18 at 8:48 am
white hot eboy says:
Ryan=Kobe. Ryan, NO SH*T. We’re all not naive. But unless you’re sure about someone’s infedelity (anyone’s not just Wade’s) don’t make a blanket statement. Every SLAM writer has nothing but good shi* to say about Derek Fisher, but if there was a report out on someone’s blog that said they saw him out and about with some round the way whore, there would be 10 different new columns from you guys saying “that could never be true” or “why would you believe some idiots blog”. If this turns out to be true, he’s just added to the long list of broken down athlete’s marriages. If it’s not, then why bother printing some inane bullsh*t. Sorry, Ryan but that comment is way out of bounds for any of the decent, respectable guys in the league, whoever they are.
Sep.18 at 9:10 am
Ryan Jones says:
eboy, you jumped on me like I was Russ or something! It’s too early for that homie.
For starters, I addressed my comment to someone else who’d fully admitted naivety. Believe it or not, not all my comments are directed at you.
Beyond that, I’m pretty sure your loyalty is clouding your stance on this one — if the story was about some guy on the Sonics instead of your boy, would you be so fired up? I kinda doubt it. I also have no idea if Fish cheats on his wife, and that has nothing to do with this conversation either way. My point was and is that, as stated, the culture these guys are a part of, especially the high-level cats like Wade, not only encourages but almost demands this sort of behavior. In D’s case, part of the issue is that many of our peers seized on the “All-American boy” angle because he married his childhood sweetheart and had kids with her at a young age — suddenly it’s 1950 again and D-Wade is wearing v-neck letterman’s sweaters and saying “Aw, shucks,” when he misses a jumper, then goes home and kisses wifey on the cheek at night. Right. Fact is, like all NBA guys, and especially players of his caliber, he lives a different reality from the rest of us, and part of that reality tends to be living Luda’s pros-in-different-area-codes concept to the fullest. I’d be happy being wrong on this one, but I’ve spent too much time around NBA players to know that a) I’m probably right, and b) I’m glad I don’t live their life.
Sep.18 at 9:11 am
Ryan Jones says:
But I don’t actually know anything. Just so that’s clear.
Sep.18 at 9:18 am
Ryan Jones says:
If I may change the subject, I just posted a new column that features eboy’s three favorite things: Death, castration, and Dane Cook. Enjoy!
Sep.18 at 9:27 am
white hot eboy says:
Homie, we really did go back in time. It’s not jumping on you either, Ryan. The SLAM guys write extraordinarily well but your reading skills have alot left to be desired. I only used Fish’s name in this context as an example of the LOVE you guys show him. Just like you think I’m jaded in my opinion, you guys are all guilty of it to. And for real, I could give a sh*t what D-Wade or Shaq’s marital status is, I’m not paying their child support notes each month and I don’t watch the Heat to see what either of their wives/ex-wives are wearing or what hand signals they may be passing back and forth to each other. So I think you took my comment way to personal. Or not. Who knows. I really like you anyway. Sorry.
Sep.18 at 9:37 am
white hot eboy says:
Death is the worst, castration is the worst thing ever for a living man and listening to Dane Cook is a horrible combination of the two.

Imagine being with the SAME girl since you were like 10, and then realizing that you are arich NBA superstar and somewhat of a heartthob and can have any woman that you want. What would you do?
The only crazy part is that she just finished having another baby by him.

Drer says:
Lol, why are people surprised. Guys go through a player stage from age 18-35. That’s a generalization, cuz there’s always exceptions. So, NBA players whom are living the life usually fall in between this age range. So, why the shock?

The funny thing is I think that D-Wade DOES wear letterman’s sweaters.

Rome says:
Furthermore, can you imagine being a NBA player living in Miami. I’m married I had some single friends who went to Miami, they came back and told me “since you’re married, I would suggest that you not go to Miami, it is not good for married men to go there”.
So imagine being a multi millionaire in Miami, or a top 10 Alltime NBA GOAT like Shaq, I guess it’s dag near impossible to stay on the straight.
I had a cousin who was engaged, was taking a trip to Miami by himself before the wedding, I warned him that he’s gonna see some “things” that will change his mind, sure enough his wedding was off a few weeks later.

Myles Brown says:
Ryan, I’m usually the most jaded cat on two feet, (aside from one Russ Bengtson. spelled it right too…) but as we discussed ages ago, when it comes to my hoop I almost want to stay naive lest I see one of the only things I still truly love in a different light. I seriously almost don’t even want to set foot in an NBA locker room. “Keep hope alive!”

D Wade … divorced … understandable. Wifey got tired of D’dub having any and all opportunity to cheat and what not. Got jealous, Wade got tired of her trippin … chuck the deuce sign up at her … simple as that!

Cheryl says:
Just goes to show–never marry or UNmarry for sex. If fidelity is the sole basis of your hook-up, you’re in trouble. You better marry for better reasons than that.

Reggie Evans says:
True dat, Cheryl.
Sep.18 at 7:53 pm
Dave says:
What is sad is that many believed and believe that D Wade is a good guy. I still believe that he is, but there really is not any excuse for divorce, even if he cheated or if she was jealous because of the fame and attention he gets from everyone (including the honeys). Marriage in God’s eyes is a promise, an oath to Him. The Wades and the O’Neals know this and I am sure they believe or believed it, because I know that they were raised in the church. But because of the society we live in today it has been exceptible to end marriages and start doing our on thing. This behavior needs to change but the question is will it. I hope I am able to be apart of that change. I believe I will. I will not believe Wade is getting a divorce until it comes out like Shaq’s did, if it ever does.
