A sister’s point of view
Goody and a friend chime in on the Isiah mess.
Yesterday’s Isiah debate on the site was spirited and relatively intelligent, but more than a few commenter’s wanted a woman’s perspective. Adrienne Goodson is here to help you.
I got tired of the male point of view so here’s the meat and potatoes from the female side of things. This email came from a friend over at the Women’s Sports Foundation in Hempstead, NY on Tuesday morning. She will remain anonymous, but I must say that it was a good look my sister.
“Hello Everyone:
Just so you know, Anucha has been very strong, respectable, and well composed throughout this trial. They have been trying very hard to dig up anything that would discredit her in the eyes of the jury, but her word is solid. These days in court have been painfully long and tedious but Anucha, so far, has been able to convince everyone that her work environment had been incredibly hostile and that MSG retaliated against her when she filed a formal complaint. I must admit that some of the defense’s questions are annoying because of the repetitiveness and minutia, but Anucha has remained pleasant throughout and sometimes she throws in a little bit of humor which causes the entire courtroom to burst into laughter. I know that this trial is weighing on her and she continues to say that hearing from her friends or seeing us in court is very uplifting. Last week I saw a few Atom alumni and it was a nice feeling to see Anucha’s response. Yesterday she had a few old friends from IBM (men and women) who came to support her. I know that she will get through this and I hope this sends a strong message to America; that the social acceptance of sexual harassment and the use of derogatory words towards women in the workplace is unacceptable. Here is a link from the news 7online website which shows the clip from the video taped deposition of Isaiah Thomas:
The Garden claims she was dismissed for a failure to “fulfill professional responsibilities.” After the last season in New York I would say he may also fall under this category. I have always loved Isaiah for his talent on the court but, he has always had a quick mouth. I wonder how he would feel if somebody spoke to his wife like that, but then again maybe that’s what this is all about.”
Well put letter, I’d say. I’d also like to add that Anucha was a great player in college at Northwestern. I mean, awesome. Stay tuned, Hoop Reality is in your area…

Good stuff, Goody & friend.
My memory is hazy — I was a drunk college freshman at the time — but isn’t this sounding more and more like Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill? And might Zeke and Clarence actually be related? And does this mean Isiah has a chance at f*cking up the Supreme Court, too?

WHE, I put the headline on it. I more meant it as an homage to Cheryl. Unless I’m dissing the Redskins, I would never mean to offend the original ASPOV.

Ben, you naughty man. That is very cool of you though. And my Redskins offending is top-shelf too. Sorry Cheryl.

“The Garden claims she was dismissed for a failure to “fulfill professional responsibilities.” After the last season in New York I would say he may also fall under this category.” - after the last 4 seasons basically. The highlight of the trial was the notion that Isiah wants to win games. Either he’s fatally incompetent at doing so, he’s lying his a** off or the conversation never happened because I don’t know anyone who could look at his tenure in NY and listen to him say anything about winning games while keeping a straight face.

Cheryl is more than welcome to come into the womens forum and express her opinions. Women supporting women is rare. I’ve only heard from her once since I’ve been here. Stealing is not my forte. Did she get this email too? I’ll be waiting I’ve got time. Second of all, how can you come in and throw up someone elses name hot boy.

Ms. Lady Goody, I’m a known prankster around this site. (As well as a pain in the a*s to others). I was joking. Cheryl is my South Florida homegirl, so I stay strong with her regardless. Plus we have “Heat fever” together so we’re locked in. But I don’t need to speak for her. She handles herself with grace and intelligence. She’ll be back. Her last time in had her busy doing “real” stuff, like work. And Goody, you called me hot boy. Now I’m feeling like I’m part of a bad Missy song.

I’d love to see an organized women fan’s walkout at a Knicks home game this year. Preferably right as the PA guy introduces Isiah Thomas.

Russ, what would really be impressive is if the men walked out, too.

True. I’d actually vastly prefer no one to show up in the first place, but I’m a realist. And a pessimist.

In fact, now you have a reason to go to the Garden this season!

The feeling is mutual Goody. For real though, Dolan’s comment about all decisions at the Garden being his and his alone made me want to throw my laptop at someone. Who would take credit for THAT? The Knicks new slogan should be “Incompetent and Damn Proud Of It, From the Bottom to the Top, B*tch (but leave off that last part if you’re white)” Can we at least get someone to buy the Liberty? I’m surprised they’re not wearing Knicks City Dancer uniforms yet.

A sistah’s point of view is always welcome, and dare I say necessary, especially when the topic requires attention to the nuances of patriarchy and how it plays out in every day settings. Doesn’t really matter who the “Sistah” is. Goody’s posts are always insightful and she knows she has my support. Goody, I don’t comment too much on the WNBA cuz honestly I don’t know a whole lot about the game. I support the game and the women who play it, but unfortunately I don’t follow it much, so I don’t want to offer uneducated opinions. But I am estatic that Slam has you to clue us in on the behind-the-scenes issues as well as the game itself. And the Redskins are 2 and 0, right? ‘Preciate the love, Eboy.

… last time I was at the garden was the wnba all star game. cost me $10 bucks, and was far more fun than my last knicks game (the final reggie in the garden, spike hugging affair). its been difficult to respect dolan and crew for some years, on a basketball, business, and personal level. that’s why i think the knicks should trade for ron ron. if you’re gonna be f** up, might as well go all the way. oh and Cheryl, “nuances of the patriarchy”. you’ve been bamboozled. the patriarchy is unabashedly obtuse.

I hate how sexual harassment trials seem to prosecute the woman. Especially when prominent men are involved. Its really backwards and injust and shows how much further society has to progress. There’s this whole defense angle of “she said there was sexual harassment at her last job” so therefore she must be over-sensitive. As if it’s impossible for sexual harassment in modern society to happen in more than one place. Kind of reminds me of some allegations from Colorado a few years ago and that guard from LA…

Too bad I was sleepin on SlamOnline for a couple days….
This definately goes to show why New York (the Knicks) f*n suck! Isaiah can’t handle his biz off the court, let alone put people on it. No sympathy here. He’s really got to be an idiot.
