Reggie Miller to the Celtics?

The Celtics are trying to lure Reggie Miller from retirement. Exactly what they need: Another guy who needs the ball in his hands to be effective. The good news is this would probably take him away from TNT.

I love the turn of the screw. The Celtics went from instant contenders to extreme beggars. I guess they realize how sorry the rest of their squad is. And having Reggie at this point would be nothing more than a cosmetic signing. It would make MJ’s return to the Wiz look like the 72 win Bulls season. Give up Boston. It’s not happening this year. Ferengi be damned.

Russ Bengtson says:
I thought Reggie’s wanted his legacy to be the fact that he stuck it out with one team for his entire career? Guess not. Oh yeah: SIGN KEITH VAN HORN, YA JERKS.

I will not click on that link.

Look: all I know is that if they sign Reggie, the 2008 Celtics are the best video game team of all time.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

Allan Houston > Reggie Miller

I think everyone needs to rethink it all over. Reggie retired with some fuel in his tank. I think this would be a perfect opportunity for him to get his championship. Even though he’s old, and starting to become a decent commentator, there is no doubt in my mind that he is still better at knocking down a 3-ball than 3/4 of the players in the league, except Ray Allen. Oh wait, they’d be on the same team~! www.clutch3.com

They need a rugged post monster, not another pretty shooter. Wanna sign someone out of retirement? Sign Bill Russell.

Ryan, Im surprised you dont think this is a great idea, what did Reggie average his last season? Much more than Eddie House Im sure.

The Spin, have you ever heard a Reggie Miller broadcast? Saying Reggie is a decent commentator is like saying Jessica Alba looks like James Gandolfini.

Russ, is Van Horn’s agent paying you for these endorsements?

Ric Bucher says:
Reggie is a bad idea. I agree getting him off of TNT would be a great idea. Reggie Miller=Old=Worst Commentator Ever=Washed up

Young Chris #3 says:
What the Celtics need is a veteran POINT guard who has experience to “perform under pressure” (as they say…) and some defensive stoppers, not an aging shooter who couldn’t D up in his prime, let alone play D now.

they would do better if stockton came out of retirement to join them…

Russ Bengtson says:
I just think KVH would be a decent fit. One, he’s not 42 years old, and two, it’s a WHITE GUY TO BOSTON. And he’s much better than Brian Scalabrine.

Basketball gods: please don’t let this happen. Reggie NOT in a Pacer uniform? Spike Lee is rolling over in his grave.

Aug.8 at 4:27 pm

SA says:
Russ, is KVH even interested in coming back? Last I heard he was enjoying his sabbatical, plus he looked terrible on the Mavs a few years back, but I think it was because he was just coming off a pretty serious injury.

Russ, Reggie is not pretty.

Madtice says:
They need to sign a Dutch guy to back up Garnett. Get Fransisco Elson or Dan Gadzuric. Why? Because Dutch guys are cool… And another decent point. Would Damon Stoudamire be a possibility? He’s old too, but he can still get up decent numbers.

Russ Bengtson says:
Oh, I know. But his shot is. Well, the RESULT of his shot is anyway.

As a long time laker fan and die hard celtic hater, i would love for them to sign Reggie Miller. Imagine all the jokes we could make about the guy. Ugly Miller
Gay Allen Do it Ainge you creepy little bastard. p.s. a KG and Reggie duo will boast of the 2 biggest ears in the NBA. aaah Celtic hating. Always makes my day. =)

DONT FORGET CHARLES OAKLEY!!! lol

DWADE says:
Is it possible to get social security while making millions of dollars because if the celtics get reggie that might become a problem.
P.S. this year will be the first time that a basketball team will play out of a retirement home.

Aug.8 at 9:46 pm

The Spin says:
Oh only Reggie is old, if he actually ends up playing. KG sitll has years and eyars left, and Ray Allen and PP still have game too. These guys are in great shape. And how about Reggie’s defense? That was my favourite part of his game. Check me at www.clutch3.com

baller#1 says:
if reggie goes to Boston he’ll only play 10-15 minutes.
will he be as effective in that time?
can he be the same reggie we all know?
and is he willing to pt his body thru an 82 game season?

Jukai says:
Hold on. Russ Bengtson is right here. Boston NEEDS a white guy. They can’t win without some white guys. Keith Van Horn might score no points, but as long as they start him, the championship is theirs.

Gerard Himself says:
Madtice: as a fellow dutchman I can only agree with you - however, both Elson and Gadzuric are out the price range. Gadzuric got 36 million for 6 years, sitting on the bench in Milwaukee (I still think Gadzuric could be a good backup center, athletic, good rebounder). And I think Elson is pretty happy in San Antonio.

ForzaMilan says:
What they need on that bench is ZERO ego, and they’ll be all right.
