Reggie Is Not Coming Back
If you’re the kind of sick individual that enjoys watching old people decompose while participating in athletic events, I have some bad news for you: Reggie Miller, an old man, is not going to be making an NBA comeback next season.
“That’s it,'’ Miller said. “Physically, I know I could have done it. But mentally, when you do something like this, you’ve either got to be all in or all out. And I’ve decided I’m all out.”
“Earlier today (Thursday), I was ready to come back. I was going to do it. But then I flew back here, I thought about it, I talked to a lot of people, and honestly, most people told me I should come back. Charles (Barkley), Mark (Jackson), Doug (Collins), they all said I should do it…
“But as the day went on, I just realized I wasn’t ready mentally to put myself through the grind again.'’
Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that Barkley only wanted Miller to come back just so he could make fun of him on Inside the NBA? That or Chuck was simply tired of working with him. “No, Reg, you’ll be great in the League. Make the comeback! Don’t worry about us here at TNT, we’ll be fine. You’ll be missed!”
Your move, Allan Houston.

He wasn’t mentally prepared.
He’s not ready to go through it all over again. Poor Reggie.
If he only signed with Spurs or Cavs, his coach will cover his defensive deficiencies.

As much as I would love to see Reggie in the L again, I think that he made the right decision. If he wasnt 100% sure of a comeback then it is best to leave it as it is.

Gumdrop…I think that’s possibly a bit illegal.

But with the way the NBA is going of late, I’m sure that’ll be allowed.

Now if someone could talk Charles Oakley out of his comeback. Not that anybody wants him anyway. Maybe his homeboy in Charlotte will sign him.

Even in his prime Reggie Miller was physicallly challenged every time he stepped on the court. He has no upper or lower body strength and he was never quick or explosive. he knew how to move without the ball and he was a decent streaky shooter. Him not coming back has nothing to do with mental preparation. Reggie would have failed physically.

1- I enjoy watching old people decompose as much as the next guy, just not while participating in athletic events.
2- I was really hoping Reg would come back just so he could get his annoying ass off TNT. I tried to think of something as annoying as Reggie Miller’s voice/opinions, and the only thing I could come up with is when British people say “whilst” or “whinge”.

Phila says:
Mike, you are a stupid mutha. The Celtics still have a legitimate shot. It wasnt all riding on some 40 year old three point shooter making a come back.

Phila, I can’t say for certain, but Mike was prolly being sarcastic. Sarcasm is quite prominent around these parts.

tariq, theres this show called family guy, and in one particular episode, a few characters spoke in that manner, emphasizing the w and h in words like awhile.

Tariq says:
Thank you, Tarzan. I am familiar with Family Guy (Stewie is badass), but I hadn’t seen that particular episode. Although my beef is with the fact that they actually use the word “whilst”, regardless of pronunciation.

More annoying than Reggie on TNT: Bill Walton on ANYTHING. Last night I swore I wouldn’t watch anymore Bill Walton-commentated Fiba Americas games, but the Alley-Oop contest that was the USA-US Virgin Islands game was worth it, even with Bill regaling the TV audience with his wikipedia geography knowledge

good decision on Miller’s part, i’m sure he could be of some use.. but its weird to see great players play post-retirement age as limited players.. hope Payton retires now too, he should’ve done that a whiiiile ago..

Gerard Himself says:
man, saying Bill Walton is a good commentator is saying Jim McIlvaine was a great center.
And I’m glad Reggie stays retired. He left the game with dignity.

naw, saying Bill Walton is a good commentator is like saying Darryl Dawkins was a great center. not true, but very entertaining…

Walton is cool, and a good commentator. If you can get past his drawling articulation (he’s worked hard to overcome his lisp by the way, respect)– and the brain cells that drifted off in so many clouds of smoke in the 70’s, he’s not so bad. Go Celtics.

I used to like Reggie before he was a commentator. Now when he does games I have to hit mute. What a dumn ass. He has nothing insightful to say. All that experience and nothing to show for it.
Mark Jackson is the best former player turned commentator yet. Nice job buddy, next stop Memphis (head coach)
