yeah that might be pretty correct, but he is much quicker than Jasikevicius, and has that tony parker type floater in his game

I know the Heat tried to moving for him, but he choose the Grizz cause of Pau. That’s kind of cool but obviously he has no desire to try and win a majority of his NBA games. Playing in the West, we know the Grizz sit in the bottom 5 of the conference and there is no chance of them moving into playoff contention anytime soon.

Yeah Cheryl, that joker turned into a monster. I hate to say I’m glad it stayed south, but we will keep them in our thoughts. Izzo, enjoy your weekend. I’m predicting a huge afternoon on the SLAM site once #7’s plea is announced. It’s going to be heated around here. So, sorry you’ll miss it.

Bodie, I just used a random faceless, team in the tournament with the same disregard as the faceless player who is wearing the #10 jersey, who by recent accounts, isn’t even the 2nd best player on the team.

Whitehot, that lunch is a heart attack waiting to happen, my love. Add a salad, please.
Aug.17 at 2:00 pm
white hot eboy says:
It’s Friday lady. I got ball tommorrow and Sunday mornings. I’ll be burning it off with quickness (I hope). And Bodie, if you asked me that question a year ago I would have been a homer and said D-Wade because it was pretty indisputable. But as it stands, if I want to win a game with one player who can get it done, and someone who has all the intangibles to be a great team-mate and a winning pedigree it would have to be Timmy. Kobe has never showed the “true” leader quality that would make a guy run through a wall for him and that will always be his biggest drawback because I would imagine even most of his team-mates would like to see him fail when the spotlight is on him. D-Wade needs to settle into what type of game he’s going to play for the rest of his career so he can avoid unneccasary injury. And once Shaq’s gone he’ll have the free reign of the team burned on him. Lebron is not quite the “killer” he needs to be, but if he finally gets that, he would probably jump to the top of the list. Nash is potent at running a team, but until he is so feared that he can take a game over single-handedly, his two MVPS’s will be the only trophies he lifts.
Aug.17 at 2:09 pm
jbn74sb says:
So you’re answer is Tim Duncan? I don’t have a problem with that, and even I will admit that he is easier to build around than Kobe, or a player like him. I never had much of an opinion either way about Wade, but always respect a player that put his team on his back and willed them to victory the way he did against the Mavs. You could talk all day about the refs, and about how the Mavs folded, but Wade still had to do what he did for them to win. All that said, to me it is undisputed that Kobe is the best basketball player on the planet. However, while there is not another player in the league that can give you what Duncan can give you, while seemingly being both liked and respected by his teammates, there are a number of players who can give you a reasonable facsimile of Kobe. But he’s still the top dog.
Aug.17 at 2:10 pm
Cheryl says:
Sure, you’ll burn the calories, but the heart-clogging stuff is still floating around in the veins and the older you get (not saying you’re old) the harder it is for the body to eliminate that crap. Just being a mother is all. and I like your analysis of best player. As much as I love my Heat, I’m getting the league pass just to watch Tim & Co. repeat next year. Totally agree that DWade needs to develop a new skill set to keep him from injuring himself with his falls. He as missed games in every season because of the wrist and other fall-down injuries, right?
Aug.17 at 2:12 pm
Adrian says:
Eggplant is horrible.
Aug.17 at 2:14 pm
Adrian says:
Wait, you mean the same way VC changed his game to avoid injuries…?
Aug.17 at 2:14 pm
Cheryl says:
And Bodie, it’s true when you measure by pure skill and killer mentality that no other player playing right now matches Kobe. But you got to add the intangible stuff that wins championships and that’s the ability to get your other teammates to do what you need them to do and to feel a part of the run. That is what Kobe lacks and if he doesn’t get it before his skills begin to decline, he can forget ever winning another ring as the star player of his team.
Aug.17 at 2:19 pm
white hot eboy says:
Here’s a question Bobie. All things equal, is Kobe at this point in his career just a slight step behind D-Wade. Here’s my reasoning. And I don’t really think it myself. But using your logic, that Shaq is basically horrible and D-Wade carries the Heat in such a way that he is “the team”, same as 24 is viewed, Wade has to be the better “winner” and teammate at the moment due to the fact he won a title with no help. And he is still in the beginnings of his career. Where Kobe got his rings with a “big” assist from Shaq, Shaq’s presence was nowhere near that level in the Heat’s title year. So basically, what I’m saying, is that unless Kobe wins another ring with him as the sole catalyst on the squad, will he be viewed for the rest of his career as a incredible scorer who couldn’t get it done without the help of a great center or a player who’s best years passed him by way too early and whos’s petty jeoulosy’s broke up one of the league’s true dynasty’s?

Adrian, no regarding what?
Aug.17 at 2:26 pm
jbn74sb says:
No. Shaq broke up the dynasty.
Aug.17 at 2:26 pm
Adrian says:
Kobe isn’t a step behind Wade. Wade isn’t a better “winner”. And Kobe won’t be regarded as just an incredible scorer.
Aug.17 at 2:27 pm
white hot eboy says:
Wow, Bodie, you truly are jaded.
Aug.17 at 2:34 pm
jbn74sb says:
Just factual. Shaq broke up what could have been 2 dynasties, in the way that he left Orlando like a little girl. He has always been selfish, and left both teams over money. What’s odd is that you seem like a reasonably intelligent cat, and yet you don’t realize these facts.
Aug.17 at 2:35 pm
white hot eboy says:
Adrian, you missed the point of my post I believe. It was hypothetical. And the only thing I agree with of my own questions is that Kobe will never be viewed as on the 10 greatest players, maybe not even top 15 when his career is over, without winning a chip as the sole catalyst. Anyone that views those three Lakers rings as “Kobe’s rings” and not Shaq’s has clearly been polluted by purple and gold fever. Kobe was the sideman as Pippen was with Michael. Not that it didn’t cement both their legacies as champions, but Shaq’s is just that much bigger because he was the cornerstone of the franchise.
Aug.17 at 2:38 pm
Adrian says:
I’m drinking, keep posts less than two sentences, thanks. Haha
Aug.17 at 2:39 pm
jbn74sb says:
I know there is a crack problem in Miami, but eboy - Kobe is twice the player Pippen ever was.
Aug.17 at 2:41 pm
white hot eboy says:
Bodie, if I’m the best player on my team and the 2nd best player is getting his ba*ls licked because he is being groomed to take over the franchise, I would be a little angered too. And when your coach also leaves the team because he can’t stand you either, I think that speaks more than the argument Kobe, Mitch and Jerry concocted as in “hey, Kobe’s here, he’s great, let’s build around him, have Shaq take his old ass somewhere else, save that huge salary, and show that we truly have a “braintrust” here that can’t be beat”. Come on now Bodie. You SEEM like an intelligent cat too, and if you don’t think those type of converstaions went down, you are not just playing for the home team, you’ve been brainwashed by them, too.
Aug.17 at 2:44 pm
Adrian says:
I’ve got a question - with Kobe better and more experienced than Wade, why did Shaq have no qualms about “handing over the team” to Wade, but he couldn’t handle doing it with Kobe? If he hadn’t had “beef” with Kobe before leaving the Lakers, would he so easily have handed control of Miami to Wade?
Aug.17 at 2:44 pm
white hot eboy says:
to the argument. And Bodie, as much as it would pain you to poll the site, Michael’s Bulls teams would have destroyed any of the Lakers squads. And that is not even argumentitive. I would have liked to have seen 24’s face after each ass-whipping after Michael and Scottie took their turns beating him down.
Aug.17 at 2:47 pm
white hot eboy says:
Adrian, because the Lakers got rid of him on Kobe’s request and Shaq realized that at 33, he could no longer dominate the game as he did in the past and the leagues rules made it much more difficult for him to get through games and easier for wing guys like 24 and D-Wade.
Aug.17 at 2:48 pm
Adrian says:
But then why not be more willing to hand the team over to Kobe? Isn’t that what the whole argument was about anyhow?
Aug.17 at 2:50 pm
jbn74sb says:
Uh, the coach came back. As for Mitch, well, time for him to go. I never liked what we got for Shaq, and also wish we would have kept Caron as well.
Since the Heat couldn’t win a playoff game in the East this year, what makes you think they would have even made the playoffs in the West? I know they had injury issues, but so did the Lakers.
Our starting center missed the entire year (Mihm), our best post defender (Kwame) was never healthy and missed more than a 3rd of the year, our 2nd best and most versatile player (Lamar) was never healthy and missed more than a 3rd of the year, our 3rd best player missed more than a 3rd of the year and was never healthy, our best shooter missed just about the entire season (Half-Pipe), and we started the youngest player in the league at center for much of the season.
And while it was a terrible year for the Lakers, we still made the playoffs in the West, and won a playoff game. Which is a good year for most of the franchises in the league, and a better year than the Heat had.
Aug.17 at 2:57 pm
jbn74sb says:
Do you really think that the Bulls at their peak would have beaten the Lakers at their peak? What do you think Shaq would have done to the entire Bulls team? Jordan and Kobe would have essentially cancelled each other out, with a slight edge going to Jordan. Pippen would have been better than Fox, but Pippen couldn’t handle much of a load. The rest of the role players if anything favor the Lakers. As for the poll, half the readers on here have an IQ somewhere near their age, so I am not sure how informative or relevant that would be.
Aug.17 at 2:59 pm
Adrian says:
Hey, Luc Longley would’ve sh*tted on Shaq
Aug.17 at 2:59 pm
white hot eboy says:
Wow, Bodie, go back and re-read that post. Are you sure your 32? You sounded like a 12 year old sticking up for his team to his grade school buddies. I haven’t made an excuse for the Heat all summer. Watch this now, THEY SUCKED!!! Inujuries, coaching movements. Wahtever. They SUCKED. It’s really that easy. And unless they change their philosophy on winning they will continue to SUCK. The Lakers are also terrible. And they SUCK. I would not be surprised to see both of them out of the playoffs this year. That whole one win is also getting old too. Your playoff wins in the last three years (4) the Heat’s in the last three years (27). Case clsoed. And Phil came back for the all-American dollar and as a favor to his girlfriend to save face for the franchise. I do love these arguments with you Bodie, because for one it’s nice arguing with someone who makes good points and two it make’s us look retarted since neither team is relevant right now.
Aug.17 at 3:00 pm
Adrian says:
I can’t believe it…we’re actually talking about basketball hahaha.
Aug.17 at 3:04 pm
white hot eboy says:
Bodie, that’s really rough on our poster bretheren. And while you may think Shaq would have his way with the Bulls, you must not remember Shaq going against Rodman in ‘96. Dennis did a fantastic job on him without much help and when he did sit or get into foul trouble the Bulls three centers beat Shaq up enough to frustrate him. And while Penny was not quite Kobe-like, he was fantastic at that time and the Bulls swept them out of the playoffs, so you may be playing yourself a little.
Aug.17 at 3:06 pm
jbn74sb says:
33, Uncle Cliffy. And the Lakers and Heat are 2 of the better teams in the League. Are the Heat currently closer to a title? Of course. The only teams that are truly terrible are those that don’t even contend for the playoffs. Decent teams come close to making the playoff. Good teams make the playoffs (in the West at least), and the great teams advance. Obviously matchups and injuries play a role, as neither the Jazz or Warriors are great. I still say that the top 9 teams in the West would have beaten the Eastern Conference champs, with the exception of perhaps Golden State. But as long as Kobe is on the Lakers, we will be relevant, and as long as Wade (and yes Shaq) are on the Heat, you will be relevant.
I’m getting pumped for the season - it’s not that far off.
Aug.17 at 3:08 pm
jbn74sb says:
Agreed on the 96 teams - Shaq didn’t really do sh-t in the playoffs until Kobe was old enough to pull his own weight. But by the time 2000-2002 came around, especially with the way Shaq was allowed to play, he woud have dunked the entire Bulls franchise into oblivion.
Aug.17 at 3:11 pm
Myles Brown says:
The Lakers wouldve beaten the first three peat Bulls and gotten beat by the second edition. Shaq admitted himself this year the Kobe didnt run him outta town and that he believed Kobes version of that past summers events 100%. And Kobe is still the best in the galaxy. I respect Duncan, but Kobe is a more dynamic player. Continue.
Aug.17 at 3:22 pm
white hot eboy says:
Dynamics alone doesn’t win ring’s boys. I just guess it takes an old-head to realize that. Probably why all the old lovable losers are trying to come back this year for one more shot. And Myles as this summer has proven, Kobe is a great bamboozler. He’s got his team so confused on what he’s wants to do, they haven’t made a move to improve their team. I think that is Kobe’s best talent, smoke-screen building, more than his dynamic game.
