The move, independently, isn’t bad at all. He adds versatility and low-post passing to a team that doesn’t have much of it. The move partnered with Eddie Jones and James Posey sounds like the setup to a joke about plastic hips.

Posey is the only one worth a sh*t to the Mavs roster. Webber will get 20 minutes max split between center & Dirk relief, EJ might get 12 behind Stack & Posey can be a good backup to J. Howard, if they get him.

Ben, wasn’t that what C-Webb was supposed to bring to the Pistons last year too? He needs to start, and play alot of minutes, to get any numbers worth a sh*t and his defense is horrid, as always. Like everyone saw inthe playoffs last year, C-Webb can’t perform well against anyone with mobility. Dallas needs D, not more offense.

Webber and Howard can debate who’s going to call Mav’s timeout’s.

White Hot Eboy, are you sure the Mavs need more D? Did you watch that Golden State series where they had one offensive weapon and couldn’t hit a jumpshot? This isn’t the Nellie days. The “Mavs need more D” thing is a stereotype. But I totally agree that C-Webb needs minutes to survive and he still totally buckles in crunch time.

Ben, they at least need a defensive minded guard that can stop dribble penetration. They have none as we saw against Mr. Wade and Mr. Davis the last 2 seasons. And a backline defender can sure up the lane when the guard is beat. As we know their “power” forward does NOTHING like that.

Does Mark Cuban have no appreciation for history? What more certain way is there to assure the Mavs do NOT win a championship than by signing Chris Webber?

Maybe a championship is just not in the cards for the Mavs.

If I remember right though, Dallas were the bottom team in assists per game last year. So even if he moves like sisyphus, if he’s got his passing game on then he’s got something to contribute. But him and Dirk together in the frontline means vewy vewy minimal webounding.

Are the Mavericks trying to retroactively win the 2001 NBA title? Because if that’s the case, they’re doing the right thing.

Adding C-Webb doesn’t address their biggest issue (lack of toughness) They’re too soft, cept Stack.

Say what you want about Chris Webber… when your starting centers switch between Diop and Dampier, anything is better. Christ, what the hell happened to Keith “Great White Hope” Van Horn?

whooo! says:
webber is a terrible fit for dallas. the team’s lack of assists are cuz they just go iso all the time off pick n roll mismatches. also, damp and diop provide the only semblence of post defense for the entire team. and let’s not forget that out west, webber will have to go up against either duncan, boozer/okur, yao/scola, amare/diaw, or smaller ball quicker guys. dude will get abused and won’t pose a threat on the other end.

i mention the bigs out west cuz that’s who he’d have to guard unless he plays alongside the other centers (which equals super slow frontcourt). out east, there’s still howard, bosh, kg, and shaq, but he has rasheed n maxiell to either guard em or provide help.

I kind of forgot about Keith Van Horn. He’s a veteran free agent, as far as I know. I can think of a number of teams that he should sign with, including the Nets and Celtics.

Mavs are fine they need to stick with what they got. Dampeir is not good but name 5 better centers. Yao,Shaq, and Oden and PF/C like Duncan and kg dont count. I mean this is a gret team the best in the NBA. the suns are chasing them but they dont have to worry about them. Like DJ Strawberry and grant hill will matter. And spurs are always playing for the chapionshio but really. gsw had the foremr coach and mavs were clueless of waht to do. Don Nelson had some insider info . I MEAN REALLY WHOS GUNNA BEAT THE MAVS. the can beat golden state now .

MAVS MAN!! says:
oh yeah forgot about amare so its ebately with yao whos better damp or him so hes the 4 or 5th best. if yao was good him and tmac would be winnin championships. tmac is a hall of famer i mean comin hes just over-rated. 1.Shaq one of the all time grat centers. 2. Greg Oden in a few seasons gona b outstanding one of he best center of his time. 3. Amare can score like hell I mean hes part of the Suns success. 4. Imma have to say Yao because Dampeir is just bad but hey hes in the top 5. Right nw the NBA is lacking of Centers
