Save the Warriors (Girls)
Hi everybody! Mutoni is sick, possibly puking his guts out right now. Also, you may have noticed our site is morphing once again. I couldn’t help monitoring your conversation. There’s no mystery about the site. Why, it’s simply different. Now, let’s have no more curiosity about this bizarre cover-up.
One thing I have done over the past week is turned both of our slamonline interns, Ben Collins and Jon Wiener into human blog aggregators. Instead of me lazily eyeballing way too many NBA blogs, I have the two of them go through lots of blogs and then email the highlights. It’s kind of like I’m the President and they are cabinet members. Or so that’s how West Wing and 24 makes it seem. And now we read from the enemies list…
Um, never mind that. Anyways, the “other news” section will in theory be effective soon, but here we go with some blog hits as well as some other news items.
Remember how the Golden State home playoff games were the most bananas, out of control, amazingly exciting thing to happen all year? Well, how soon we forget. Golden State of Mind is rallying people to the cause for their beloved Warrior Girls, who have been perhaps treated unfairly by team management.
WHAT: Warrior Girl procedurial protest
WHEN: Friday, August 3rd, 3PM
WHERE: in front of Oakland Convention Center (or in Front of the Warriors office?)Several hundred Warrior fans will meet in front of the Oakland Convention
Center to demonstrate the injustice the Warriors have shown towards former
Warrior Girl team members. The new team was selected in an unfair manner.
We will bring signs and make our voices heard.
Speak out against injustice!
And while we’re on the West Coast, have you ever thought about who would make up the All-Hyphy team? Sactown Royalty does!
Hey, the Rockets signed Steve Francis a few weeks ago. I wonder if there’s a video blend of Francis, T-Mac, and Yao. Oh wait, Rockets blog found one.
Andre Iguodala is working out with Team USA. I put up a mysteriously invisible “other news” post about how Samuel Dalembert is trying to play for Canada. Ah, people in America and Canada working together for a common goal. What a beautiful metaphoric way of bringing this back to our international relationship with Mutoni. Awwwwwwww.
(GET BETTER MAN!!! CHICKEN SOUP! I AM NOT ASKING I AM BEGGING!)

Mutoni - Don’t be sick over this Garnett deal. The Lakers acquiring him was always a pipe dream, and we (yes, we) are better off with him in the East, as opposed to him playing with Phoenix, Dallas, or Golden State.

Save the Golden State girls! Also, I think it’s pertinent to bring up the Simpson’s episode when Bart and Milhouse join the Canadian Basketball Team: “Yep, it’s thaaaaat easy.” I would say something like Mutoni’s in my thoughts and prayers, but that would just be too corny. I do hope that Mutoni (someone I have never met) gets better though.

Sammy D will replace Todd MacCullough on the Canadian roster. In essense, losing one Sixers big man who didn’t live up to his potential(due to injury) for another(due to lack of skill).

And in other news, here’s the latest from Gilbert: “I just said I’m still on a diet, but I didn’t say I don’t cheat away from the diet. Of course I do. I’m an American! We eat bad!” Preach!

July 31, 2007 — A Queens man allegedly confessed to police that he bludgeoned his mother to death with a dumbbell after she intervened in the fight he was having with his dad — an argument sparked by the noise the son made while watching the Mets on TV.
“We started fighting, and my mother jumped in,” Michael Anthony, 26, told police of the Saturday night incident in Flushing, authorities said. “She went into the kitchen and got a knife.”
Anthony and his mother, Maria Fischman, 61, struggled with the knife and “it broke over her head.” She then went into the bedroom and reached into a drawer, according to the criminal complaint.
Anthony thought she was getting a weapon, he allegedly told cops, so he grabbed the nearest thing to him - a 20-pound dumbbell.
“[I] swung it, hit her and she fell to the floor,” Anthony allegedly said.
Then, the son went back into the living room and waited for the police to arrive. During the melee, his father, Fred Fischman, somehow got locked outside the apartment. Anthony is being held without bail.

Gotta love those 26 year olds who live at home and keep 20 pound dumbbells laying around the living room. As an aside, a 20 pound dumbbell? Was it his moms? Hit the weights, dude. Also, having never been to NY, I didn’t realize there were trailer parks in Queens.

I have emailed that story to many of my friends (and Jake) already. Sometimes the sight of Beltran sitting there resting his billion dollar quadriceps makes me wanna bludgeon someone.
