Dwyane Wade Could Miss Training Camp

Plus: Stephon is blogging.

by Marcel Mutoni

-Wade could miss training camp and perhaps some early-season games because he’s still rehabbing from knee and shoulder surgery.

“My doctors don’t want me to rush,” Wade said. “They make sure I come back when I am ready to come back. We are taking it slowly. Of course, I am rehabbing hard. It’s tough to rehab the whole left side of your body at one time.”"I’m kind of glad [about] the pace that I’m going,” Wade said.

“Next year, I want to make sure I’m as healthy as possible, to play the most games that I can play without going in and out of the lineup. I would rather take it slow now, and really hit it toward the end.”

-Can Marco Belinelli replace Jason Richardson in Oakland?

“I don’t know. I hope,” Belinelli said when asked if he can have a similar impact in November. “I think that it’s different in summer league than in the NBA season.”

(Yes, Marco, it is different. Vastly so.)

-The Philly Inquirer thinks that the Sixers need to sign Andre Iguodala to an “a judicious, rather than extravagant,” contract extension. I’m thinking that if Iggy doesn’t get paid for real, he’s gonna be one unhappy camper.

-Do the Heat want Carlos Navarro?

According to a league source, the Heat is preparing to make a trade offer to the Wizards for guard Juan Carlos Navarro, who recently negotiated his way out of a contract with FC Barcelona, one of the top teams in Europe. The Wizards have held Navarro’s NBA rights since selecting him in the second round of the 2002 draft.

-Stephon Marbury is joining the blog revolution. Steph is guest-blogging on the NY Post’s website this week. Is there an athlete out there who doesn’t have a blog?

Navarro would be a HUGE crowd favorite in MIA. I can’t see the Wiz making a move with their division rival though. D-Wade will probably miss the first 8-10 games from what I’ve been hearing from the local guys down here, so the Heat should be 4-6 after the first 1/8% of the season. Another great start!!!

Saying that Belinelli can defent is like saying Shaq can hit three’s. It’s stupid. He can get steals by being smart, but his assignment can blow past him WHENEVER he wants. Plus Navarro is a lesser form of Jasikevicius (clutch, distance on his shot, smart player), with less PG skills, and even less defence. Plus , he’s been slipping for the past few years (though I might just be bitter cause he is beating the crap out of Greece whenever he plays against us).

If they don’t manage to get Navarro they should really make a move for Papoloukas-definitley the best player not in the NBA

I can only name two athletes who always should be blogging: Etan Thomas and Paul Shirley. Worlds apart, but what brings them together is just flat out honesty.

Didn’t Papaloukas just re-sign with CSKA though?

Wade skipping training camp? He really is learning from Shaq.
Steph needs a video blog. The written word is beneath him.

Sheesh maybe Dwade should’ve NOT rushed back from injury for the playoffs. A healthy Dwade wouldn’t have lost to the Bulls (arguably), but he might have worsened his injury. And how good is this Navarro guy…?

Gerard Himself - I’d include Arenas with those two hahaha.

Sam, Sam, Sam. The Watcher is supposed to be non-partisan and out of the public eye. Stay that way when it comes to Mr. Wade. Unlike “80%” of your Knicks, Mr. Wade has CLASS and talent. Jealousy is not attractive, especially from the Watcher. Learn from it…love it! (Sorry Sam, it’s 94 degrees here today and the a/c in my car seized this morning. I’m red hot today)

The Heat should trade for Lionel Messi.

I’d hate to see Udonis go, esp. for Pietrus. Sign Posey instead. He really does want to stay in Miami. The Anthony Johnson for Doleac trade sounds reasonable. But, no matter who the Heat gets or doesn’t get, don’t underestimate the hunger of an embarrassed team. I hear Shaq is working out like crazy. Can’t tell if it’s the jokes about his reality show with obese kids, or the embarrassment of getting swept by the baby Bulls, but he’s on a mission. –ASPOV

Ha! Fair enough. It is kind of funny though that Shaq will be the one in shape and it’s his wingman coming back late. Very backwards.

white hot eboy says:
Sam, I’ll believe it when I see it with Shaq.

In danger of being really tiresome (I am oprone to that), here’s a little story:
A few year’s back, there was a Couple of guards, tearing up the Greek league in a medium budget team. After two years of that, my team (Olympiacos) goes on to sign one of them (Paploukas) into a huge 3 year contract+ buyout (compared to the average budget). At the end of the season, they let him go cause he wasn’t cluth enough. He went on to lead his team to five consecutive Euroleague final fours, winning a title, all the while he lead his country to the European and World championship, to win gold and silver respectively. THAT’S stupid management.

Russ Bengtson says:
Somehow I don’t think D. Wade’s missing the first 8-10 games will make ANY difference when it comes to the playoffs. Figure this is all precautionary, and when Wade comes back, he’ll be 100 percent. It’s not like he spent the whole summer clubbing and eating Doritos.

Jul.17 at 11:52 am

nothin _personal says:
Of course, a summer after they let Paploukas go, they signed his running mate, Diamantopoulos (not Diamantides, imo, the best Greek player, over Papaloukas). He was a chucker, with immense talent but no work ethics. Ayear later, he was a goner too!

Jul.17 at 4:01 pm

Chukaz says:
Can Marco Belinelli replace Jason Richardson in Oakland? F*ck no. Whenever Marco Belinelli can do a 360 or a sick windmill, he will be a worthy replacement. J-Rich will be an All-Star in the East.

pay Andre whatever he wants. we’re screwed anyway…

Russ Bengtson says:
If the Sixers lowball Iggy as an encore to trading AI, and he leaves, Khalid might not survive the season.

Yeah iggy needs that cash.
