Links: NBA Finals Are Set

Is it going to be must-see TV?

by Lang Whitaker

The Cavs were still celebrating on the floor of The Q when I got an email from an NBA exec saying, “Call me…” I did, and we immediately started trying to figure out if we were about to witness the worst NBA Finals in a while. Yes, was the consensus. Maybe since New York/Houston?

I like the Cavs. I like LeBron, I like Drew Gooden, I even like Mike Brown, even though he kind of blew up on me that one time. I just don’t think Cleveland is a very good team. And I think the Spurs are a very good team.

So look ahead with me. Can Cleveland win an NBA Championship? I’m thinking Spurs in four or five.

Of course, I didn’t think Cleveland was going to beat Detroit, either.

Lang Whitaker says:
Also, anyone know anything about golf in San Antonio? I’m not trying to pay over $100 at La Cantera, either.

Jun.3 at 2:26 am

Kevin Wilson says:
As great as LeBron was carrying a team with Daniel Gibson as its second-best player, I see them getting their asses kicked in San Anton. But maybe I’ll continue to be a witness.

Jun.3 at 2:31 am

Ang says:
Spurs in 5. Lebron has one 30 point game to give the Cavs their only W.

Jun.3 at 2:37 am

(-_-) says:
umm i disagree. The Cavs actually match up with the spurs very well (2-0 in the regular season) I also dont think der is a chance dat LBJ will let the Cavs go down in 5

Jun.3 at 2:47 am

Drolfe says:
No chance the Cavs will win more than the one obligitory home game. Which sucks, but LeBron will perpetuate the cliche by learning from the experiance and come back again harder next postseason. It’s truly amazing he has lead his team into the Finals at this stage in his career.

Jun.3 at 2:50 am

Drolfe says:
Bad news, however, for those people who are fans of the NBA’s regular season. A small part of me was hoping the Cavs would go out in an early round this playoffs so LeBron would realise his ‘coasting’ method doesn’t work. Unfortunately for us, it seems to work perfectly. Should’ve known.

Jun.3 at 2:50 am

ohio king says:
Spurs 4-1. And I will enjoy the 1. Look we do not match up well with them and regular season means NOTHING. Hey Milwaukee also beat them twice to none. That Spur team take away something to make you play bad. Hey Deron Williams went off on them and Amare and they beat both of their teams easily

Jun.3 at 3:05 am

Phila says:
Okay the Spurs are going to destroy the Cavs. This will be a horrible finals. The Big Z has to deal with a quicker Elson. Duncan will make Varajao and Gooden look ridiculous. LeBron will have a much harder time with Bowen in his grill all game long. Hughes will have his hands full with Ginoboli. And whether Gibson or Snow starts is irrelevant. Parker is gonna take either of them to school. Marshall and DJ making threes wont solve there problems. The Spurs got Finley, Horry to counter that. LeBron I love you man but I just dont see yall pulling out anymore than 2 wins here. Especially since you dont have the home court. But damn, you dismissed the Pistons without it. So go ahead and prove me wrong. Please do… And the fact that a team like the Cavs is in the finals… doesnt that just prove how badly the east truly sucks… Sorry for bashing on ya Cleveland, but San Antoine has got the depth and experience that yall lack. Good luck.

Jun.3 at 3:08 am

Dark says:
I don’t know basketball history too well, but for all the knowledgeable bball heads out there - If the Cavs (Lebron) were somehow able to win the 2007 trophy, would they go down as the worst champions in NBA history?

Jun.3 at 3:09 am

Dark says:
Cleveland’s supporting cast just seems so undependable. I guess it’s just another testament to Lebron’s greatness that he has carried these guys to the finals. Even Jordan had Pippen (Top 50 All Time); Lebron has . . .?

Jun.3 at 3:12 am

Dennard says:
(-_-), you can go ahead and throw the regular season out the windew. Spurs in 6.

Jun.3 at 3:18 am

Boing Dynasty says:
I believe the hype.

Jun.3 at 3:34 am

Darksaber says:
Bring on the Bowen collector. Those nice and easy rumbling runs to the hoop are over for Lebron. Wonder if the King should wear a cup for game one, you know cause Brucie (that D*ick) likes to go after superstar’s nuts, doesn’t he.

Jun.3 at 3:50 am

Drolfe says:
I would love nothing more than to see LeBron mentally and physically destroy Bruce Bowen over the course of this series. That would make my heart sing with gladness.

Jun.3 at 3:51 am

Eoin says:
Worst champions in history?I doubt it.I mean, seriously, this overestimating of how good teams were years ago has to stop.Between the start of the league and the mid 60s, I’d wager there are at least twenty teams who won the title against whom LeBron could’ve averaged fifty, ten and fifteen.Because small forwards like LeBron didn’t exist back then - not even remotely like him.Back then he would’ve played centre. But they might be the worst in modern history (since Bird and Magic came into the league).Another example - Rick Barry supposedly won the title as close to single handedly as it gets, so that team must’ve been pretty bad, I’d guess.
As for the Cavs chances against the Spurs…well, like everyone else, logic tells me the Spurs are gonna take it handily, but isn’t that what we JUST SAID about the Pistons?I think all predictions go out the window with LeBron. He’s just too good.He can do anything.

Jun.3 at 3:51 am

the brown guy says:
spurs in 5
lebron must learn the ways of the force

Jun.3 at 3:56 am

Darksaber says:
But “brown guy”, the force IS strong in that one already? A Padawan he is not, anymore, as Yoda would state it.

Jun.3 at 4:03 am

B-rad says:
lebron is gonna come off beaten and bruised after bowen collector is done with him. and just putting it out there - if last years final was miami against spurs instead of mavs, and bowen was on dwade, how many free throws would flash have shot? moneys on a triple figure

Jun.3 at 4:05 am

Chukaz says:
Didn’t the Washington Bullets from way, way, way back in the day win a title with a really crappy team?

Jun.3 at 4:07 am

neaorin says:
The Cavs are a very good team. They may not be an elite team yet, but defensively they are right up there (you liked Tony Parker having his way against the West? just wait till he has to face Hughes & Snow). And Z will guard Duncan, not Gooden. And offensively… well, they have LeBron, and we all saw what that can do. The two liabilities they have are their bench and their coaching, which normally will prove too much to overcome, but it won’t be cake for the Spurs, that’s for sure.

Jun.3 at 4:12 am

Chukaz says:
Bron won’t be able to out coach Pop (lets be honest, he is the real coach and probably GM). Duncan will bank so many shots that the damn backboard will break.

Jun.3 at 4:15 am

Nothin_personal says:
GS in 1975 were the worst, I think. Russ should know, I hope he might enlighten us.

Jun.3 at 4:20 am

Chukaz says:
Bron won’t be able to out score the Spurs by himself people. Sure he took the Pistons to school but he will not be able to do that for an entire game. He ain’t Kobe, man. His carrer high is 56 points and it was the same Raptors that Kobe dropped 81 on. How come people say that Kobe’s 81 weren’t a big deal and that it wasn’t hard to drop that many points on the Raps if Bron only got to 56? And Bron’s 48 were tight and everything but Kobe dropped 50+ Vs. the Suns. Sure, the Suns defense wasn’t very good, but did you guy see the Pistons? I felt like throwing up and probably so did everybody at the Palace.

Jun.3 at 4:26 am

Chukaz says:
Lets get started with the draft already nobody cares about the finals.

Jun.3 at 4:28 am

Nothin_personal says:
The 1978 Bullets had Wes Unseld and Elvin Hayes, and they made back to back finals appearances. I do’t know about the early years though.

Jun.3 at 4:29 am

Chukaz says:
Lets get started with the draft already nobody cares about this years finals. Next year I hope we get the Warriors Vs. somebody that is not boring. Come on commish, make it happen

Jun.3 at 4:32 am

Chukaz says:
@Nothin_personl - Nothing personal, but the NBA sucked before Magic and Bird.

Jun.3 at 4:34 am

Chukaz says:
Warriors Vs. the Hawks. I just saved you a step Sternbot. Come on homie, make it happen.

Jun.3 at 4:37 am

Chukaz says:
Did anybody see Jay Z at the Cavs game?

Jun.3 at 4:49 am

Gambino says:
I have faith in Bron, not enough to put the house on it, but I did put a wager on the cavs winning the championship, look at last years finals, everyone predicted the west to win it, I truly believe in my heart that Cavs will win it, but the head is saying the spurs(even though I don’t like them). His teammates have the experience from last year, more from this year and they have arguably the greatest team player in the game today(specially with the team he has)

Jun.3 at 4:52 am

Nothin_personal says:
It might, I wasn’t following before Jordan’s first chip, so everything is the same for me.
P.s. The NBA sucks after the Jordan (more spacifically, after they changed the hand-check rules while keeping the illegal defence).

Jun.3 at 4:54 am

Chukaz says:
Is there a chance I could get my own column in this site? Come on Slam give me a chance.

Jun.3 at 5:10 am

dre says:
well, remember when the Pistons were supposed to get ass kicked by the Lakers? heck, we even just saw the Warriors pull off the impossible. anything is possible.

Jun.3 at 5:22 am

Ryu says:
SA is a way better and experienced team, but they show some crappy performances too. For example in Utah not long ago. So I say the Cavs have some chance to win 1 or 2 games (if James loose his mind again and drop 48). But I take my money on the Spurs. But what’s sure, I won’t root no one of them. Except Finley.

Jun.3 at 5:26 am

Chukaz says:
dre, you are really wrong my friend. Sure impossible is nothing (give me my check adidas, or was that Nike) but let me remind you something, the Mavs where not the Spurs and, as much as it hurt to admit, Kobe was trying to hard to win that title by himself.

Jun.3 at 5:28 am

Chukaz says:
Seriously, can I have my own column?

Jun.3 at 5:46 am

Boing Dynasty says:
Chukaz, LeBron’s 56 came in a loss.
Kobe was not double teamed on purpose, in an attempt by Sam Mitchell to embarass then GM Rob Babc*ck into getting him some more coachable players.
Your own column? Consider it done.

Jun.3 at 5:51 am

Drolfe says:
Most people, after noticing a spelling or grammer mistake in one of their comments, post something else to correct it or rectify it. Chukaz asks for a writing job.

Jun.3 at 6:12 am

whooo! says:
the spurs-nets in ‘03 was a pretty bad matchup. duncan had with him a terrible supporting cast. parker was so young, speedy claxton was closing out games! manu was a rookie, robinson was hobbled w/ his back (until the last game), but they had role players who did their job, and duncan was mvp that year. kidd did his damn best to save that team, while k-mart got abused like the bitch he is, then shot a 3-27 the year after callin out van horn. i reckon the spurs today are far superior to that team, but i’m not sure if the cavs are actually better than that nets team.

Jun.3 at 6:19 am

whooo! says:
lebron probably averages 25-30 and a couple poster-worthy dunks, while the spurs shut down the rest of the team. duncan probably gets a triple double at least one game. dude raises his game in the finals big-time. w/ the double teams the nets threw, he dropped this statline in the game 6 clincher: 22,20,10, and 8 blocks!

Jun.3 at 6:30 am

AB_40 says:
hey that’s what I just wrote on the other post:P spurs in 4 or 5

“Grammar” Drolfe…But my point exactly. Learn to write before asking for your own column. And you might also be the most biased person on this post right now. Not exactly what people who don’t agree with your views would want to read. You WILL get sh*tted on A LOT!

Tim Dogg says:
So what do you think Lang? Zach Randolph?… Would the Hawks want him? Would they be willing to give up Smith (probably not) or Williams (maybe)? What can my Blazers do with his horrendous contract?

Jun.3 at 7:31 am

Rome says:
HEre’s what Coach Flip had to say:
“We were just trying to get those guys (the starters) fresh,” Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. “We made a decision before the game that we were going to play more guys and buy the starters a few extra minutes. Those couple of minutes kind of did us in.” And that folks, is why Flip is still Flip, great regular season coach, but his teams have bad meltdowns in the playoffs.
I noticed something in that he doesnt adjust during the game he makes adjustments for the next game.

Jun.3 at 9:59 am

Chuck Nevit says:
Lang… i’ve been to a few courses in SA. There are a lot of nice courses. Silverhorn is my favorite (off 1604). Also try Sonterra, Tapatio Springs, Canyon Springs and Cedar Creek.

Stuie says:
Im f*ucking tired of the spurs. every year they at least make it to the confrence finals. it sucks because there good but not bulls good. it stupid to see a team do well each year but not always win the finals. i mean seriously they cant be that good if they dont always win thats what p*isses me off.

Jun.3 at 10:38 am

nexus6 says:
YEAH!!!F*** the Spurs.if the Cavs can steal one of the first two like i think they can, they will be in good shape.

Jun.3 at 11:21 am

Lang Whitaker says:
I don’t think the Hawks want Zach Randolph, Tim. Good player, probably an All-Star in the East, but…well, there would be a lot of distractions for Zach in The ATL. Probably not a good idea.

Jun.3 at 11:32 am

nexus6 says:
distractions…..at least Zach could go to Hawks games for free, which any nba fan in the ATL should have the right to do since there’s nothing to see at their games.anybody can watch josh smith highlights on nba.com.

Jun.3 at 11:39 am

Cheryl says:
The Spurs may not be the Bulls of the ’90s, but c’mon stuie, they are a very good basketball team, and have met the best of their era and beat them. Not taking anything away from Bron, but the east is really, really weak to have a team like the Cavs come out as the Conf. champ. It means that next season the conference is wide open–anyone, including the Hawks, depending on the make up and coach of the team (Stan VG anyone?)–can make noise. And after watching most of the Cavs/Pistons series it’s clear to me that the Spurs would have annihilated the Pistons also. At least LeBron will make it fun to watch, I hope. Finally, Lang, you may have to go a bit outside San Antonio to find a public course. Good luck with that.

Jun.3 at 12:22 pm

Brian says:
I think the Cavs can win. The West is so overrated. It’ll be interesting to see how all those fouls called for the Cavs for jumping into defenders bodies on drives are called. You might lose your job if you call to many of those on SA.

Joel O's says:
Remember how last year going into the finals we were saying the same thing that the Heat were going to be totally outmatched by the Mavs? The same thing applies here, I think. The Mavs WERE the better team, such as the Spurs are, but anything can happen when you have a superstar like Wade/Bron on the opposing team.

@Stuie: Who, besides the 90’s Bulls, were “Bulls good”?

The Cavs just sent the aging Pistons to the retirement home for the summer and the Spurs are not exactly young. Let’s hope Duncan has a few garbage games or misses some key free throw. Cavs in 6, baby!!!

I think that it’ll take 6 games, either way. And that Bruce Bowen will get destroyed if LeBron is aggressive out of the gate.

Jun.3 at 1:55 pm

Thomas says:
The Spurs might just just have some cometion finally in the Finals. Since the Spurs, seem to automacally look to win the Finals everytime they win the west. It is no boubt that they will beat this Cavs team. What they did in the seaon to S.A. does not matter, the playoffs is a new era if you will. I see the Spurs winning this one in 5, the Spurs will respect the Cavs and show more class than a high school graduation. The Finals will define what the teams are about, Mike Brown seems to be serious to win the finals dare we say!! but the Spurs know what it takes to win, that is why they beat Detroit in 2005, New Jersey in ‘03, and Knicks in ‘99.

Jun.3 at 1:56 pm

Thomas says:
Sorry I missed spelled lol. At top!!

Jun.3 at 2:05 pm

Chukaz says:
I’m dead serious, this series could be over at the end of the first half of game one. I’m sorry Bron, you are not ready to be here, so just pretend you are hurt and miss the entire series so that you won’t f*ck up your Finals record (you know that MJ is 6/6 and TD is 3/3 soon to be 4/4)

Jun.3 at 2:09 pm

Chukaz says:
So, can I have my own column? A yes or no will do, no need to hurt my feelings.

Lang, there is a spot by Callaghan and Fredericksburg road to play golf at, actually its a nice spot. Go down i-10 and exit Medical & Callaghan, then take the frontage road to callaghan and take a right, after that take a Right onto Callaghan, and go down till you get to Fredericksburg, take a right onto fredericksburg and just go down like 2 blocks and it will be on your left hand side… dont remember the name of the Course but its good

As much as I hate to say it, I think the Spurs will win the series in 5 games. Hope the Cavs will prove me wrong!

Jun.3 at 6:10 pm

dj says:
The Spurs are (experience, deep, smart, tough, etc etc insert gushing superlatives here). okay. gotcha. guess what, they just beat a Utah Jazz team which was basically a slower and less talented version of themselves. Before that the Commish handed them the PHX series (damn you horry) and in the first round played against a flawed Denver team that had been together 2 months. Not too impressive. Bowen got lit up by essentially a lesser version of lebron (Melo) in round 1, and Deron williams took Tony parkers matadaor D to school in the conference finals. Well guess what, the Cavs have Lebron, (who by the way just annihilated a much younger and spry defender than bowen in Tayshaun) and Gibson, who will run roughshod over parker just like nash and williams did. That’s two major matchup advantages for Cleveland right there. Larry Hughes and Finley are both sort of washed up gimpy shooters who cancel each other out. Yes, Duncan will have a ginormous advantage over Varejao/Gooden/Marshall, but then again, when doesn’t he have a huge advantage? The man’s the G.O.A.T. at the 4 spot. Centerwise Elson is quicker than Z, but lacks the offensive skillset to do much damage (like webber sort of did). On the other hand, Z is much larger so he will have no problem getting his against elson.
So far its Cavs 3 Spurs 1 and 1 tie position matchup-wise. Of course, the Spurs have a much stronger Bench with Ginobilli and Horry to the Cavs Sasha and Eric Snow (assuming mike brown benches sasha in favor of boobie, which might or might not happen, but they’ll play equal minutes nonetheless). And yes, Pop will probably coach circles around poor inexperienced Mike Brown. But the point is, any way you put it the Cavs have at least a fighting chance, way more than you guys are giving them.
And its always good in a winner take all series like this to see which team has the greatest individual player (this is basketball, after all). Every year that he’s won the chip Duncan has indisputably been the best player in each Finals series. Until now. I don’t know how his career arch will project out or if his coasting will continue next year, but right now The King is on a murderous rampage, the man is a RAGING INFERNO. and you dont f*ck with that. you just dont. Cavs in 7.

Jun.3 at 6:11 pm

Drolfe says:
At the time the 94 Finals seemed a little boring… but looking back on it.. it was f*cking Ewing vs Hakeem. I would pay to see that matchup again over seven games. At the time i was like someone get these boring a** pivots out of there and bring in some slashes. I was an a**hole.

Jun.3 at 6:12 pm

Drolfe says:
And, oh yeah: grammar. What a great time for a typo, while im pointing out other people’s mistakes.

Jun.3 at 7:38 pm

drew says:
all of you need to stop hating on the cavs..the cavs swept the spurs in the regular season.albeit was the regular season but you cant tell me that the cavs dont have a chance. their confidence is sky high right now. they finally have a true second scoring option in gibson. z is a good third option. so what im from Cleveland and im a little biased but nobody outside of Cleveland gave us a chance against the pistons and you all saw what happened.

Jun.3 at 8:00 pm

Tom says:
I’ll give the cavs a fighting chance. I seem to remember that first bulls championship was nothing to be proud of, until the won the chip, and all of the sudden guys like pippen BECAME stars because of how they played in those big games. Cavs seem really similar in that respect. And Lang, I like houston vs. NY too……why the hate?

Jun.3 at 8:00 pm

Joel O's says:
Hmm. Are the Cavs THAT flawed as people say? Maybe not - looking purely at numbers, how much worse is Drew Gooden than Horace Grant? How much worse is Big Z than Bill Cartwright or Luc Longley? The Cavs have the deepest frontcourt in the East, maybe not the best, but it’s deep and scrappy. Boobie may become far, far better than Craig Hodges / John Paxson / Steve Kerr ever were. Yes, I’m comparing these Cavs to the old Bulls teams. They’re no where near as good as Jordan’s Bulls teams - they don’t have a Pippen, nor do they have a Kukoc - but the Cavs aren’t THAT bad.

Jun.3 at 8:00 pm

Joel O's says:
Nonetheless, on the Spurs’ warpath to these finals, Duncan has already destroyed Camby, Nene, Amare, Kurt Thomas, Boozer and AK47. None of them could stop him. Gooden and Z should be a lot easier to deal with.

Jun.3 at 10:10 pm

Lars says:
This may very well be similar to a 1 vs. a 8. The 2 games SA lost came in the months of Nov. (2nd game of the season) and Jan. If anyone watched the Spurs this season, the engine did not crank until March. Look for a 4-1 possibly even a sweep. Question: who in the world stops Duncan, Vara Flop or Led Z? Also Cleveland closed out the Pistons (garbage) on incredible 3 point shooting, will that be there against SA? SA made it a point to limit PHO 3 point attempts expect the same this series. Jun.3 at 10:49 pm

Chukaz says:
So, who thinks I got a better chance of getting my own column than the chance of the Cavs of beating the Spurs? I know there is a bigger chance of me becoming commish over the next couple of days, or winning the lottery, than that of the Cavs winning a game. The Spurs in 1 (the Cavs won’t show up for the next 3, they will just throw the towel).

Jun.3 at 10:53 pm

Shtrobi says:
The Spurs will win the first two games at home, easily. Cavs will go back Cleveland looking like all hope is lost. Then, Bron will start driving to the hoop and the refs will call foul after foul, even though there is little to no contact at all. Bron will end up shooting free throw after free throw, the Spurs will implode and start crying and complaining. Cavs will rattle off 4 straight wins and unveil in the change rooms a huge bowl full of Laminated Cards.

I would like to retract the “of” after Cavs in the second line.

The picture of the Cavs celebrating with their Eastern Conference champions trophy is not a good sign. I’ve only ever seen that trophy once before, with the overmatched Nets, before they were dispatched by the Lakers and Spurs. It seems like the Cavs are just happy to make the finals. Do you think the Spurs are satisfied with a Western Conference championship trophy? Spurs will wipe them…4-0. Parker will run riot. Duncan, another Finals MVP…ho hum.

Jun.4 at 12:44 am

Nothin_personal says:
@ DJ Melo is not a lesser version of Lebron. Two completely different players. Melo at the moment is a lot more refined in offence,(that’s changing fast, though) as he showed at the worlds last summer. On the other hand, Bron is a Physical specimen, with great defensive abilities, and the best court vision in such a big guy since Magic, with endless “potential”. That’s why one of them is at the finals, while the other was at the brink of a scoring title. Lets wait and see, though.

the only way the cavs have a chance is if lebron gets the same calls that dwade got last year. i used to hate the spurs but watching them gets easier everytime. duncan’s ability to utilise his teammates and trust them is on par with or even greater than anything mj did. also how the hell do they expect to stop manu or TP? even if larry wasn’t injured and snow hadn’t felt the effects of father time these guys would have no chance. talent and team chemistry is what wins ‘chips, the cavs are drastically limited in these areas. one final Q: if bowen holds bron to 20ppg on 40% is he finals MVP?

I wasn’t comparing their offensive skillsets so much as their physical attributes, and correlating that to the type of player Bruce Bowen has the most trouble stopping (strong, atheletic SFs like Melo, or Bron, as opposed to more perimeter oriented scorers like Kobe or Ray allen, who he torments). I just meant that if Bone collector had trouble keeping up with melos combination of size, strength and athleticism, wait till he sees Lebron. fyi: Dirk destroyed bowen last year in the playoffs as well. Havent all the coaches realized by now bowen can’t guard larger players anymore, he’s only a strictly perimeter defender now. Kind of like an eric snow who shoots better.

1 and 2: You are a minor

The Spurs are the team I support in the West (Nets in the East…) and I have been very critical on LBJ… BUT… call it a hunch, it will not be very easy for the SPurs. I give the Cavs quite a few chances. LB is in a bball manic state the the moment, a player like that and the effect he has on the team is always dangerous

Russ Bengtson says:
How can anyone write off the Cavs? They just beat the Pistons—the alleged class of the East (which isn’t saying much, but still)—four straight games. And they COULD HAVE won both games they lost. As far as I can see, the Cavs have two major strengths: 1) LeBron is ridiculously amazingly awesome, and 2) the rest of that team is SO unpredictable. Pretty much anyone on the roster could be the second-best player on the team one night, and a complete non-factor the next. How do you prepare for that?

who will flop more…..Sideshow or Manu?

Nothin_personal says:
Prepare for a lot of offensive fouls an LBJ, everybody will flop at him, Manu, Bowen, hell, even Timmy should (but he probably won’t, thank you Plantar Fascitis). Lebron is Shaq 2007, in a smaller frame.

Can I name my kid “Plantar Fascitis”? How many problems would that get him?

Jun.4 at 7:53 am

Simon Fuller says:
That’s one major strength, by my count, Russ. Come on, you think that the Cavs not even being able to predict which (if any) of LeBron’s supporting cast are going to show up works in the Cavs favour? You could say the same thing about the Celtics…or the Lakers…or the Heat…

chalkboard guru says:
Don’t be hating on the Cavs though! LeBron will give them all he’s got and that might be enough to bring the championship to Cleveland. LeBron forever!

Wu says:
Lebron James can lead Cleveland to two wins but that is probably it. San Antonio is just the better team and they are probably one of the all time great teams as well.

bigmike407 says:
Lebron alone will make this series interesting. But I don’t want to see him physically assaulted by Bruce ‘Octagon Defense’ Bowen. However, the Cavs will have to employ an equally hackifed strategy on Duncan. He’ll kill Big Z and Gooden one-on one, and even though they controlled Billups, what will they do with Ginobili? He may run around as much as Hamilton, but he flops and draws those ridiculous fouls like he did to D.Fish. If they play Parker physical, he will be a non-factor. With all that said: Spurs in six with LBJ being the 2nd ever Finals MVP on a losing team. The other? Jerry West. KNOW YOUR NBA HISTORY!!!!!

Cub Buenning says:
Russ, the Spurs don’t have to prepare for the “other” players. They don’t ever deviate from their sh*t. The opponent is irrelevant. The Cavs needed superhuman performances from LBJ and Gibson just to beat a Detroit team that couldn’t have played worse individually and collectively.
Spurs might give them one game but i just can’t see anymore than that.

Cleveland in 5. LeBron wins MVP after averaging 32, 12 and 8.5 for the series. Just Like Mike?…Consider the similarities. MJ had to get past Detroit before he was able to get his 1st ring - LeBron too…Chicago had to beat the favored LA Lakers led by superstar Magic Johnson - Cleveland has to get past the HEAVILY favored Spurs led by superstar Tim Duncan…Jordan led the Bulls to Chicago’s 1st ever trip to the Finals - This is Cleveland’s 1st trip to the Chip Remember, you heard it here first. Cleveland in 5…Just like Mike.
