Player of the D.A.Y.
Families share.
The Player of the D.A.Y. should go to the obvious choice T-Mac, with 40, 10, and 8, plus 2 steals and a block. But first I have to get these tears out of my eyes from laughing so hard at something totally unrelated. It has nothing to do with anything that any of you will care about. It is a personal matter involving someone I know who has 155 pictures of themselves on their facebook page. You animal. As someone who spends a great deal of his time reading about people who write about themselves and what they think about every little thing that pops into their head, this is a display of narcissism unlike any I have come across.
Glad that is out of the way. Tracy McGrady walks around like an old man afraid to fall down icy steps in winter. His back could go at any minute. And then he puts together 40 and 10 night to go with other stat stuffing numbers. In the interest of putting things together into a neat little pile, I am also going out of my way to honor the play of Vince Carter against Washington on Saturday night. 46-16-10. The cousins now have something else in common. A shared Player of the D.A.Y. trophy. I would throw Jason Kidd into the mix too, but he keeps sharing this trophy with people, so for fairness sake he will get nothing and like it.
Co-Players of the D.A.Y. are Vince and Tracy.

Bryan says:
I just wanna know why people think vince is so bad? I mean yeah he doesn’t drive as much but 25 points on jumpers is about the same in the stat sheet as 25 on dunks? You know for the whole of his career people said all shaq did was dunk, now it’s all vince does is shoot jumpers.I mean maybe I just haven’t been watching the games or something but it seems odd all the hate? He’s 30 years old and he plays different now , get over it.

Caron and Gilbert gone for the season and Defense never reporting to training camp…wouldn’t that technically make the Wizards an ineligible team, ala the Celtics and the Bucks?

Really? This is the first for Vince? Wow.
I am now ignoring that rule about playing bad teams because too many teams are just playing out the string.

David says:
I agree with Bryan. It seems like everyone hates him because he’s not exactly the same player he was in his first few years and he only occasionally displays his athleticism. That, and the way he quit on Toronto. But he’s still one of the best swingmen in the league. And wasn’t there a Slam story a while ago about how a lot of players would pick Vince over LeBron as a teammate? I wonder if that would still be true…

Bryant Reeves says:
David - the players would pick Vince over Lebron in a playground game… Very different.

Bryant Reeves says:
oh yeah… People hate on Vince because he is a biatch - not because he isn’t talented.

Ya he has only played in every single game this year, about to set the Nets single season scoring record, career highs in assists and boards, had the fourth biggest triple double ever, but ya I agree he’s been pretty brutal this year…

Chief says:
You can’t score 25 on dunks retard. mayb eon jumshots, but even in the commercial he said 2 points is two points. you can’t have half a dunk.
The wizards played exceptionally well for a team with only one potential all star on the floor. no offense, ha there is a pun for ya. But seriously, Mr. Triple Double does it again and allowed Vince to have an amazing night, in the swamp? What gives. They should be sharing it. Fuck T-Mac. Hold up…are you guys asian, cause then i might understand. I’m just saying. Getting a triple double on the same night that a player on your team does is above and beyond the call of duty. and to get the W. Almost Far fetched. But they were playing the wizards….

Can’t say that I am at all suprised that this website failed so miserably to acknowledge the greatness that was displayed in the Meadowlands–just miles from where you all live and work–on Saturday night, but I am disgusted. I don’t have to repeat the numbers, or provide the historical comparisons. Slam should be capable of looking this shit up themselves. Of all the stuff you guys write about, this is all you can manage! The best backcourt performance of all time happens down the street, and writing one sentence about Vince Carter is “going out of (your) way”. Pathetic.

Boing Dynasty says:
Actually Chief, you can have 25 on dunks. You see, the 25 is not the number of points he has to score every game, but rather his average over 82 games. So if he where to dunk the ball 12 times, resulting in 24 points one game, then dunk the ball 13 times resulting in 26 points the next game, and keep on alternating between the two for a whole season, he would then average 25 points on dunks.
Maybe next time you wont be so quick to call a stranger a retard.
Also, Brad just ate Sam’s lunch.

I always call strangers “retards”. Then I backpeddle away while looking over my shoulder for Jared Jeffries.

quote-”VC is gonna average 55,22,and 19 when he sweeps the raps
the first round of the playoffs…” right. b/c he’s been so consistent with those numbers his whole career. the raps would sweep them.

Ely Rygier says:
If you watch a Chris Bosh mixtape (insert here) you’ll see that in his first year or two he wanted to be a dunking monster…then KG said “Lets see how long that lasts, his knees will probably give out” and KG is right. So Bosh settled back for not as much dunking intensity and instead took to jump shooting more.
Same thing is happening with Vince, he has been a dunking phenom all his life, but being paired with a point guard who can tell you the dangers of microfracture surgery on your knees, he smartened up and started to realize that if he kept up the phenom dunking his knees would go out too. So now he does more jump-shooting. And the jump shot is just something that with vince is really 50/50. Sometimes he’s a good jump shooter and sometimes he misses really clutch fadeaway jumpers against the sixers. But at the end of the day…is he still an all-star? yes. can he fill up a stat sheet? yes. Would you pay him 15 mill to be on your team, understanding that he’s now a jump-shooting all-star and not a dunking phenom? Well…it’s a good thing the nets like their retirement community roster.
Mike….f*** off. Stop knocking the raptors. We’ve never done anything to anyone. Until now…

Mike says:
You know whats funny with you people? You dont know shit!! VC is like 2nd or 3rd in the NBA in points in the paint among guards. He drives non-stop and is still dunking on a nightly basis. He clearly doesnt have the same hops as back in the day, but for a 30 year old the man can still fly. And if the nets can stay out of the 8-spot, youll see them in the Eastern final against Detroit, you can book it…
