Even though the Suns were having one of those nights where they assume they can outrun anyone, and don’t need to play D against an inferior team, the opponent has to make shots. Jason Richardson made shots. As a team, the Warriors took 31 threes, and hit 13 of them. J-Rich hit 5 in the first quarter, on his way to 8 for the game and a big 36 and 12 night.
The Suns seem to have come to grips with the reality that they will not catch Dallas for the #1 seed. Even though Phoenix isn’t as overpoweringly dominant as it was during one of many hot streaks this season, it’s still a big deal when they lose. The Warriors didn’t get a player of the D.A.Y. when they ended Dallas’s streak at 17, because it was such a team effort. The Jason Richardson first quarter outburst powered a 45 point first quarter, and while he had help, he was the main part of the win. His former Michigan State teammate Zach Randolph had a career night with 43 and 17, but that was in a loss. To Memphis.

wow too bad i have a bye week in fantasty ball this week. everyone on my team’s blowing up. that zach performance alone would have probably won 2 categories for me.

The funny thing about this game is that with three minutes left to go, Phoenix was still in position to pull out a miracle win. I’m not saying Golden State didn’t play well (45 points in the first quarter is bananas), but had they utilized the Knicks’ patented 4th quarter collapse, we’d be singing D’Antoni & Company’s praises once more.

One last thing: Provided Golden State can hold on and secure the eighth seed, I think it would be interesting to see the Warriors cause problems for the Mavericks. Nelly knows the personnel, had Avery under his wing…in a seven game series, I wouldn’t be surprised if they hung a loss or two on Dallas. Granted, best team in the league and all, but championships aren’t earned in the regular season.

KMG, not trying to single you out or anything, but i believe the term is 4th quarter up-tempo collapse, and that clippers is currently holding down the 8th spot, with 2 less losses than GSW. it’d be pandemonium here in the Bay if we make the playoff.
