Player of the D.A.Y.
11 games were played. There’s a lot to choose from.
11 games last night. So many possibilites.
The big game of the night was Suns vs. Spurs, but other than Oberto cashing in off of passes into the post against that powerhouse interior D of the Phoenix Suns, no one player stood out. The Clippers sent the Mavs to 0-4, but that was more of a team playing well together. Great for the game and fun to watch, but that’s not how you win individual honors.
Neither of the buzzer beater shooters, Delonte West or Hedo Turkoglu, played well enough to win this. Paul Pierce had another great night, and he did have the assist to set up the game winner. But 12 turnovers is just too many.
Zach Randolph and Gilbert Arenas each had monster nights in wins for their teams.
I blew my shot to go with Jamal Crawford when I showed favortism to Q Rich the one other time the Knicks won a game. Great game Jamal. Terrible and amazing play at the end there. No trophy.
The winner is Chris Bosh, who lit up the box score with 29 and 14, and he hit both of his three pointers, including a desperation shot off a Webber deflection that travelled like a hot air balloon on its way to the basket. He also had what could have been the game winning shot before that on a jump hook. Bosh won the game about 8 different ways. After not hitting a regular season three in years, Chris showed that his hard work in the offseason has paid off. Not that he needed three point range to be a dominant player. But if he can step out and hit them like that… he would be very difficult to stop.

KG for a while added 3pointers in his arsenal (circa 2000 i believe) but there was no point of him to chuck them up from that far away. it’s a good weapon to have, but actually makes them (tall lanky stars) less lethal.

CB4 represent. Gil was great (40 points, 4 assists, 3 steals), but Bosh was a monster (29 points - including 2-2 three pointers! - and 14 boards). Also, the Bullets destroyed the Pacers 117-91. Putting up huge numbers in a blowout shouldn’t justify being the P.L.A.Y.A of the D.A.Y.

What about VC dropping 13 of his 30 in the fourth,on one leg no less, to beat the undefeated Jazz. I think you gotta give him a little consideration. But Bosh was unreal last night, so he can take it this time.

I was at the Raptor game last night, and CB4 was definitely a beast. His “Player of The Day” is well deserved! I am thinking Bosh needs another nickname besides CB4. Everytime I hear that name I think of Chris Rock with that nasty hairdo!

CB! he’s deserving of this prestigious award. let me remind everyone that sammy dalembert or chris webber just couldnt contain the real life raptor. he either got to the charity stripe or hit some unexpected shot everytime he touched the ball.

Nice shot too, ill belive it wasnt a lucky shot, because hes been hitting them thus far (inculding 4-6 in one preseason game), plus he gave Webb a little shake first and stepped into it like he meant it. definetly not the nicest stroke but dude barley hits rim when hes on, so you cant knock it.
Maybe its cause the ball dosent start comming down ’till it’s in the rafters.
Im proud of you Sam for not letting that Knick bias cloud your judgement. Crawfords shot could have got him this spot, but when you figure the only reson he had to steal it, was beacuse he just gave up and ugly TO, and he shot the ball from 5 feet behind the line with 6 seconds left, you have to figure if he didnt knock it down, Isiah might have to catch a body.

I somewhat agree Albie, it can make them less effective only if they take too many 3’s instead of being a pressence down low. Also if he misses there’s one of your main rebounders with no chance of, umm, well rebounding. But he is a beast(so is perk, apparently)
