this is perfect. i just bought an xbox 360 last week and my first purchase is going to be one of these 2 games. i’m going to sit back and hear what you guys have to say and make my decision based on that. from what i’ve heard from various sources, 2k7 is the choice.

when you get your 360, we should trade gamertags. I havent played Live, but I havent seen anyone give it higher than a 6. Ive played the 360 demo for 2K7, and it’s not as pretty as Live, but the animations and detail are the best Ive ever seen.

I rented NBA 2K7 for PS2 last week and feel it’s pretty good. The only major problem I have with it is the off-the-ball movement whenever you pass the ball into the post. No one ever cuts, they just stay where they are making it hard to get a decent shot off. As for NBA Live 07, based on your review and the others I’ve read, I think I’ll be staying away from that one this year.

The improvements were tiny, so i opted for waiting to get them every 2 years or so. Sadly, my last purchase was live 2005. Thanks for the tip concerning 2k7, so i’ll get my hands on that. Lang I think you’re too kind in the review.
Should have mention how players can walk through other player during the free throw segment. Not to mention the long and boring segment during the free throw. The frequent EA cutscenes.
Try standing between the three point line and the out-of-bound line and pumpfake your defender. If he bit the pumpfake he’ll jump towards you and push you out of court.
How about the point guard dominating the offense and taking what seemed like 80% of the shots?
And no I’m not talking about only Marbury, Iverson and Mike James. Steve Nash, Kidd, even Eric Snow has the itchy finger.
The subtitution problems, wonky animation.
Man if you dare to address 2K7 as an updated 2K6, you should tell them that Live 07 is a retarded version of Live 06. My last Live purchase is Live 2005, which at least require you to use a gameplan, and a strategy everytime down. I played Live 06 and got burned really bad with the Superstar system. All you do is wiggle-wiggle a bit, Freestyle Superstar!! Which takes away the challenge.
Live 07 is even more retarded than Live 06.

I finally made the jump to NBA 2K7 (for the 360) and couldn’t be happier. Greatest basketball game I have ever played. If you are not sure which one you want, go with 2K7. I guaran-damn-tee satisfaction.

Only problem with 2K7 is they turned the circle button from cross over to lead pass, which you could just as easisly accomplish with X plus [] before, now you have to rely on a very limited cross over, also they didnt even bother up dating to the new Raptor’s home unis’. The shot stick is cool for varoius dunks and lay ups, its not so hot on jumpers.

i made the switch to the 2k series in the dreamcast days and haven’t looked back. people who are still holding onto Live is simply in denial. it’s like 2k7 keeps on progressing and fixing the game play while EA keeps on putting gimmicks in the game. they need to start from scratch again. and i hope they do, coz then it’ll just make the 2k series even better.

I switched to 2k back in 2003-Live is so not basketball it is ridiculous, and over the past few years the player model’s heads have been expanding to ridiculous size. 2k7 this year has been completely addicting, they really cleaned up stuff from last year. I know some dudes faces don’t look quite right, but I don’t play the game so close I can see facial features anyway, so who cares? Any movie critic can tell you that if a production company doesn’t screen a movie early for critics, it generally means it stinks and they don’t want the negative reviews supressing first weekend box office, and I think the EXACT same thing happened with Live this year.

I’ve been playing 2K since the first one on the dreamcast, but 2K for 360 is by far the best one yet. Every team plays like the real NBA teams, the players all shoot and play like themselves. The graphics aren’t as good as Lives, but not by a large margin. The animations are WAY better, and the game looks almost real in HD (except for the hair). You can pretty much check any game site and see that 2K beat Live on just about all of them. If you want a realistic game of bball on the 360, 2K is the way to go.

You guys are crazy. The moves on Live are so much more realistic in my opinion. I haven’t played 2K7, but every other 2K I’ve played just doesn’t have the same fluidity on the court. The one gripe I have about Live is the one player dynasty. On every other EA game you have two player dynasties. For the past three years I’ve had to put up with this tremendous oversight. But, I’m still a Live fan.

I’ve always liked the 2K games over EA, they’re usually more “realistic”. I’m still an espn nfl 2k5 online player (yes, there are still alot of us out there), and haven’t, and will not, cross over to EA’s Madden. I’m looking forward to trying out NBA 2K7, I’m just not sure if it’ll take my attention away from nfl 2k5.

NBA2K7- wins!!! I have been on “both sides of the track” 2K7 outscores LIVE07 any day. If you are looking for true game play and “entering the arena” of basketball NBA2K7 is it! NBAlive07, I admit, has a better graphic than 2K7 slightly and not completely better in graphic. The Live07 gameplay is more for ONLY SLAM DUNKING and FANCY passing. NBA2K7 has the exciting dunks, nice passing, and MOST IMPORTANT SERIOUS Defensive and Competitve play-something NBALIVE does not offer. Anyone who disagree isn’t a true game player of basketball. Any true ball player who is into: defensive, offensive, and great stragedies, will recommend NBA2K7. All others prefer NBALIVE for graphics and flash passes and not for true tournaments!

nba 2k7 is way more realistic to an nba game where its close and you make real plays but nba live is a dunk fest and u have about a 75% chance of drainin a half courter if you take a crack at it. also the only thing nba live has on 2k is the all-star weekend but thats still horribly fake. How many times have u seen somebody through it off a camera do a flip catch it and do a 720.

I was a devoted (and I mean DEVOTED) LIVE franchise follower. Every version EA put out since the days of Lakers vs Celtics, I have owned and played to finger-numbing, red-eyed madness. Having said all that, I have been disappointed with the LIVE franchise since the 05 version, culminating in the waste of money that is LIVE07. Terrible ball control and gameplay and graphics, and the once revolutionary “Freestyle” control has gotten to be a cumbersome mess. If you want to play a good basketball sim, then by all means, get NBA2K7…10 bucks cheaper and a million times more entertaining.

I dont kno about the graphics part. NBA Live has some tight graphics but NBA 2k7’s graphics aren’t that bad 2 me. Even tho sometimes when they dunk or somethin half they jersey disappears. But games r gonna hav some glitches like that. I used 2 only play NBA Live but i tried NBA 2k7 when i got my xbox 360 n i dont plan on lookin back. Live really needs to fix their gameplay n then they would b off the chain. But NBA 2k7 has realistic and more entertaining gameplay with some decent graphics

But a positive iz that 2k finally decided 2 take a pg out of liove’s book and install a dunk contest, with good graphics. I applaud that only i wish they would have kept it simple like letting u b able to just do dunks with the shot stick and make it difficult to do specific dunks. This would cause many players to get more fond of the dunking system, unless theyre lazy! I thnk overall if 2k got better commentary instead of the same old “thatz a pwer dnk plain and smpl u got 2 luv it” by kenny smith then i thnk they will be the ultimate francyhize. But until then , well just have to settle for the graphics n gameplay.
