BALLGATE 2007!!: Part 3
Still poring over the early, early numbers…
Yesterday I compiled the night one turnover and three-point percentage totals, just because I was curious if the new ball was making any noticeable difference. A few of you guys noted that while the sample size was low, the numbers did seem a little bit high.
So out of curiosity, I did it again for tonight’s games…again, I’ll report, you decide…for now…
Boston: 37 turnovers, .455 on threes (game went to OT)
Toronto: 28 turnovers, .250 on threes (game went to OT)
New Jersey: 19 turnovers, .118 on threes
Indiana: 18 turnovers, .125 on threes
Atlanta: 24 turnovers, .471 on threes
Memphis: 19 turnovers, .154 on threes
Milwaukee: 19 turnovers, .375 on threes
Minnesota: 27 turnovers, .438 on threes
Washington: 20 turnovers, .400 on threes
Chicago: 14 turnovers, .400 on threes
Seattle: 13 turnovers, .357 on threes
Portland: 18 turnovers, .444 on threes

Overall, that’s a much more respectable 34% 3 PT shooting, and an average of about 21 TO/48 minutes played. The TOs seem about the same as last night, the shooting much better. The night also brings the 3 PT shooting to a combined (night 1 and 2) percentage of about 33%. So either people are getting used to the ball after one game, or it’s not that big of a factor.

On another note, hope you New Yorkers (and Slam crew) are doing ok after another psyche blow to the collective minds. There are cities and there are megacities, but i can’t imagine what you guys were thinking when the plane crashed into the high rise yesterday. Stay strong

one thing to keep in mind is that the scrubs get more burn than usual in the preseason, which probably leads to more turnovers and lower 3pt%
