Cassell stays in L.A.
A last second change of mind keeps Sam in Hell-Ay…
Yeah, so there were some last minute misgivings, apparently, but in the end Sam Cassell decided a difference of $1 million a year wasn’t enough to relocate to the ATL. There’s also apparently some sort of deal that will allow Cassell to stick around and become an assistant coach for Da Clips, Avery Johnson-style.
Shouldn’t be too surprised that the Clips refused to pay Cassell what he could retrieve elsewhere, although the good part is that, for the first time perhaps ever, wanted free agents are now accepting less cash to remain Clippers.
What hath Chris Kaman wrought?

Even though the Hawks need a PG in the worst way, I guess Lang should be happy. Sam I Am would have definitely stolen Josh Smith’s “ATLien” nickname.
