Riley Stunned as Shaq Burns Another Bridge

Before playing (and losing to) the Celtics in Beantown last night, Shaquille O’Neal built with the great Jackie MacMullan of the Boston Globe, and he absolutely unleashed on the Miami Heat organization.

“I love playing for this coach and I love playing with these guys,” said O’Neal yesterday. “We have professionals who know what to do. No one is asking me to play with Chris Quinn or Ricky Davis. I’m actually on a team again.”

Pat Riley, as you might imagine, couldn’t believe what O’Neal said.

“It’s sad that he says those things,” Riley said Wednesday. “We shared so much here together.”

“We sent him to Utopia and we’re here left with the carnage,” Riley said. “And I don’t know why he’s not happy.”

Don’t be surprised, Riles. This is the kind of guy Shaq is.

He never leaves a team on good terms. You should talk to his grade 9 coach; that guy still hasn’t recovered from how things ended.
