The Phoenix Mercury have announced that guard Skylar Diggins-Smith will miss the team’s final two regular season games due to personal reasons. The team intends to sign a replacement player tomorrow and that player will be available to play in Friday’s game.

The Mercury is amid a tight playoff race as the eighth seed in the Western Conference standings and has an identical 14-20 record with the Lynx, Dream, and Liberty going into the season finale on Sunday. The Mercury is already down Diana Taurasi, who is out for the year due to a knee injury.
Diggins-Smith led the Mercury in scoring, averaging 19.7 points and 5.5 assists per game on 42.9 percent shooting from the field.
