The Bullets/Wizards only made one trip to the postseason throughout the ’90s, but they had some loaded teams. In the 1997-98 season, Washington finished 42-40 despite rostering Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Ben Wallace, Harvey Grant and today’s star, Rod Strickland.
Don’t blame the DePaul product for Washington’s mediocre season, though. The dude averaged 18 points, 10.5 dimes and 5.3 boards that year, perhaps his best ever statistically.
In February of ’98, the Wiz went on the road to Golden State and produced one of the weirdest box scores ever. Howard and C-Webb sat, while Tracy Murray (a career reserve who averaged 9 ppg) dropped fifty and Strickland posted a wild triple-double: 21 points, 20 assists and 12 rebounds.
