Before Latrell Sprewell grew inseparable from some off-the-court stuff and a disappointing final act in Minnesota, he was exhilarating on both ends of the floor. Long arms and impossible quickness helped him jump passing lanes, and once he got out on the break there was no way to stop him.
Every weapon in his arsenal was on display in Game 5 of the ’99 Finals, where the Knicks hosted the Spurs with their backs against the wall. San Antonio barely pulled the game out and won the series that night, but Spree’s performance was magical.
The final line: 35 points (25 in the second half), 10 boards and 2 steals. He looked even better than that.
