Eddie Jones had quite a run. He debuted as the 10th overall pick for the Lakers in ’94 on a 48-win team paced by Nick Van Exel and Vlade Divac. His second season was blessed with the brief return of Magic Johnson. When Magic hung up his sneaks for good, LA brought in a duo you my know as Kobe & Shaq. Jones squeezed in right between ’em as a young veteran.
He was shipped to Charlotte in his fifth season, where he continued to produce alongside veteran Derrick Coleman and some rookie named Baron Davis. Two years later, he found himself in Miami bridging the gap from Prime Zo to D-Wade.
All the while, he used his major hops and smooth stroke to post a decade’s worth of roughly 18 ppg seasons. His talent and mustache were on full display during a 32-point eruption in the ’98 Western Conference Semis.
