So, that was weird. With 10:03 left in the second quarter of the Spurs and Grizzlies’ Game 4 in Memphis and San Antonio leading 25-23, the lights cut out suddenly at FedExForum.
Play was obviously stopped, and an 18-minute delay ensued as the arena staff tried to, you know, get the lights back on. According to ESPN’s Mike Tirico, it was a “county-wide drop in voltage [that] caused the power surge that took out the lights here and a good part of the downtown area here in Memphis.”
