2015 NBA All-Star Game MVP Russell Westbrook is averaging 8 assists per game this season for a Thunder team that is streaking back into the playoff picture in the West, but it’s his off-the-court assists that are most impressive. Westbrook’s “Why Not?” Foundation recently opened their second reading room in a local Oklahoma City area elementary school. Westbrook partnered with Scholastic and Oklahoma City Public Schools to create the room, which is filled with 1,200 books.
His foundation stresses the importance of education to improve the lives of underprivileged youth. Westbrook read to many children at the event, and there are plans in the works for more reading rooms all across Oklahoma City. Check out the pics above!
