Nike Unlimited Chicago Decathlon Recap

At the same time decathlete Ashton Eaton was in Rio on his way to earning a gold medal for the United States in the 2016 Summer Olympics, hundreds of others were competing in their own decathlon at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Nike hosted dozens of teams at their own Nike Unlimited Chicago event open for the public to sign up and create their own teams. Each participant tallied points for their respective teams in 10 different events modified to simulate the Olympic version: 100, 400 and 1500 meter dash, 60 meter mini hurdles, broad jump, vertical jump, medicine ball toss, javelin throw, sled pull and shot put.

Nike’s latest shoe and performance wear was on display as well, including the Nike Train Quick Amp and Nike Train Quick. Scroll through the photos above to get a closer look at the event—shout out to Nike for inviting us out!
