New York Knicks to Re-Sign Pablo Prigioni for $6 Million

Despite initial fears that Pablo Prigioni could leave the Knicks and return to Spain, it turns out that the popular back-up guard will be back in New York next season. The 36-year old will ink a three-year, $6 million deal according to his agent George Bass. Per Newsday: “The third year is a partially guaranteed team option. ‘He’s thrilled,’ Bass said. ‘It’s where he wanted to be.’ […] The Knicks had to dip into their $3.18 million mini-midlevel cap exception for Prigioni. They should have around $1.75 million left on that exception plus as many minimum contracts as they need to fill out their roster. The remaining mini-midlevel money may not be enough to re-sign restricted free-agent forward Chris Copeland. But the Knicks still hope to re-sign Copeland, and his agent isn’t ruling out a return to New York. ‘The Knicks have a really good core and those guys were good to Chris,’ John Spencer said. ‘It’s not about money with Chris. It’s going to come down to fit. Chris loves New York and loves the fans of New York.’ There are several teams interested in Copeland, including the Cavaliers, Pacers, Mavericks, Nuggets and Lakers. Indiana and Cleveland are showing the most interest and could offer more than the Knicks. But Copeland hasn’t received an offer sheet yet. When he does and signs it, the Knicks would have three days to match.”
