Bulls, Derrick Rose Finalizing 5-Year, $94 Million Extension

Derrick Rose is going to be a Chicago Bull for a very long time — the team will make sure of that — but just don’t expect him to start recruiting stars to join him in the Windy City. From the Chicago Tribune: “He didn’t woo LeBron James, court Dwyane Wade or disparage Keith Bogans. You also won’t hear Derrick Rose clamor for Dwight Howard, who knocked Rose out of two games two seasons ago. The reigning most valuable player’s attitude always has been: Join the Bulls if you want. If not, we’ll try to beat you. ‘It’s just me, man,’ Rose said. ‘If it’s not coming from the front office, you’re not going to hear me saying anything about recruiting anyone. The city speaks for itself, especially for basketball. If you want to come here, opportunity is here. The front office is great. Our fans are the best ‘I wouldn’t trade my teammates for anything in the world. Our front office does a great job picking guys with the right attitude. They just want to win.’ Rose will win on the bottom line soon. General manager Gar Forman said the formality of Rose’s five-year, $94 million extension is being finalized with Rose’s agents, Arn Tellem and B.J. Armstrong. ‘Derrick is the centerpiece of what we’re putting together here,’ Forman said. ‘We want Derrick to be a Bull for a long, long time. It’s very important that we put the right pieces around Derrick.'”
