Tyreke Evans‘ struggles with plantar fasciitis this season have been well-chronicled. The painful ailment has led to inconsistent play, adding to the struggling Kings‘ troubles.
In order to heal, Sacramento’s floor general may have to sit out a large chunk of the remainder of the regular season.
Evans told the media that it might be best if he shut it down for a while and let his left foot heal completely. After his encouraging performance against the Clippers (32 points in a loss) on Monday night, the decision won’t come easily.

After the Kings’ 100-99 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at Arco Arena, Evans said he’s considering having a procedure on his left foot that would keep him out three to four months … Evans looked like himself for the first time in a while, finishing with a game-high 32 points. Earlier in the day, he had spoken with his agent, Bob Myers, about possibly having a procedure to alleviate his pain from plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
“If I keep playing that way, I still might get it,” Evans said. “I’m just going to see what happens.” Evans said if he does undergo the procedure, he likely would have it around the All-Star break in February. The way he played Monday might give Evans reason not to have the procedure. He was aggressive and made plays late in the game that kept the Kings close. Evans said his foot still bothers him but tends to feel better throughout the day. “It’s tough, especially in the morning,” Evans said “A lot of people have had it in the NBA. I just have to try to be a warrior and try to play through it.” Evans had been adamant this season about not missing any time because of the injury. He sat out one game, Dec. 14 in Houston, but was back on the floor the next night in New Orleans.
Riding an eight-game losing streak (and leading the team with the NBA’s worst record), there isn’t much reason for ‘Reke Havoc to be out on the floor with an injury. Why not get the procedure done now and come back at 100%?
Who knows: the Kings may even luck into a solid lottery pick next summer, providing Evans with the help he so desperately needs going forward.
