Rookie guard Jalen Suggs suffered a fractured thumb injury Monday during a 101-96 loss to the Philidelphia 76ers. Suggs played 29 minutes and registered 17 points, five assists, and three rebounds before he left the game with the injury. The Magic announced that Suggs will be out an extended amount of time in a statement.

The fifth overall pick out in the 2021 Draft out of Gonzaga is a key part of Orlando’s rebuild along with Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, Johnathon Issac, Mo Bamba, and Wendell Carter Jr. The franchise has made the playoffs just twice since 2012 and has not advanced beyond the first round of the playoffs since 2010.
The 6’4 point guard has averaged 12.1 points on 33.6 percent shooting from the field along with 3.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Suggs has also been a ballhawk on the defensive side gathering 1.2 steals per game.
At 4-18, the Magic currently own the worst record in the league and play the Nuggets (10-10) on Wednesday.
