WATCH: Doc Rivers Held Back from Ref Following Ejection

Doc Rivers didn’t stick around for the LA Clippers’ 127-122 double-overtime loss Tuesday night in Brooklyn—referee Ken Mauer tossed the head coach out of the game, and Rivers had to be held by a number of players and assistant coaches from going after the official.

Rivers said he didn’t merit his first technical foul.

Nets guard Sean Kilpatrick torched the Clips for 38 points and 14 rebounds.

Per the OC Register:

“I thought it was an awful tech,” Rivers said. “… The official, who had nothing to do with the play, thought I was yelling at Lauren (Holtkamp) and I wasn’t. … I don’t think an official that has nothing to do with the play should be giving someone a tech. That’s my think. That’s why I got upset.”

Mauer told a pool reporter the first technical was automatic once Rivers crossed over midcourt to argue.

The Nets had four free throws in a row to seal the game, but they missed three straight, leaving the door open for (Jamal) Crawford to extend the game, which he did. […] Still, those “miracles” as Rivers called them, couldn’t mask the problems.
