The Phoenix Suns will lock third-year guard Jevon Carter in on a three-year, $12 million contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Carter was acquired by the team in the Josh Jackson trade last offseason.
Carter, 25, averaged 4.9 points per game for the Suns in 2019-20 but he’s a valuable depth piece that should slot into the deep rotation of a Phoenix team showing signs of being more competitive.
The second-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft shot .425 from beyond the arc last year but its his defensive acumen out on the perimeter that will be most appreciate in 2020-21 and beyond.
Carter will now serve as the backup to recently acquired Chris Paul.
