Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr just finished up a run as a Team USA assistant coach under Gregg Popovich at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Helping the team win a gold medal, Kerr could be an option to become the next head coach of the United States if Popovich were to step down.
Kerr recently spoke to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, saying he would definitely be interested in coaching Team USA in 2024 given the opportunity.
“Of course I’d be interested. I mean, who wouldn’t be? I’ll leave it at that. I have no idea how it will all transpire; there are a lot of great candidates out there. And if I were to be considered, that would be an honor,” said Kerr.
While it’s still just an idea right now, Kerr should certainly be considered if the time does come where the United States needs a new coach at the helm.
