Stephen Curry wasn’t one of the 20 hopefuls selected by USA Basketball for the 2012 Olympic team, and he says that it was a very big disappointment for him. From the San Fran Chronicle: “Curry was one of two players (along with Indiana’s Danny Granger) from the 2010 World Championships team left off the USA Basketball finalists roster for the 2012 Olympics. Then, his sprained right ankle didn’t respond as well as he had hoped at practice, creating doubt that he’ll make his targeted return today against the Cavaliers. Director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo announced a 20-man roster that he’ll trim to 12 by June 18. The list didn’t include Dallas’ Jason Kidd or Phoenix’s Michael Redd from the 2008 Olympic team, or Granger or Curry from the gold-medal squad at the 2010 World Championships. Forwards Blake Griffin of the Clippers and LaMarcus Aldridge of Portland were added to the roster. ‘I’m very disappointed,’ Curry said. ‘I got a chance to try out for the World Championships team, actually made it and won a gold medal. I wanted to repeat that experience. It’s very disappointing, but it’s just motivation for 2016.'”
