Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha, have created a scholarship specifically for women’s athletics at Davidson College, Stephen’s alma mater.
The couple will be contributing an unknown amount to encourage others to donate. The goal of the fund is to have an impact on more than 200 female athletes.
Curry took to Twitter to make the announcement on Thursday.

“Davidson college is where it all started for me, and it no doubt prepared me for leadership and service. I’m forever grateful for the unwavering support from the entire Davidson community. The reason I am who I am today is also because of strong, powerful women that have poured into my life all these years. Now as the father of two girls, I want them to grow up without any boundaries on their futures.”
Davidson President Carol E. Quillen made a statement about the Curry family’s contribution via NBA.com.
“Stephen and his family exemplify Davidson’s core values, and this gift is another extraordinary example of how their creativity, drive and convictions serve the common good.”
Stephen played at Davidson from ’06-09, averaging 25.3 points while shooting 41 percent from behind the three-point line. His historical performance in ’08 helped lead the Wildcats to the Elite Eight for the first time since ’69.
