The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to a three-year, $27 million pact with free agent big man Jakob Poeltl, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Poeltl, 25, started 18 games for the team last season.
While Poeltl’s 5.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game don’t jump off the page, he’s a productive young big man on a team that’s in the process of reinventing itself. It’s very possible Poeltl sees more than the 17.7 minutes per game he saw in 2019-20.
Poeltl was originally drafted with the No. 9 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and was included in the package that the Toronto Raptors sent to San Antonio in exchange for Kawhi Leonard.
Poeltl will return to San Antonio along with fellow center Drew Eubanks, who signed a three-year pact of his own earlier this evening.
