The injury occurred when Curry and Celtics guard Marcus Smart collided, going for a loose ball. Smart’s dive for the ball led to him crashing into the Baby-Faced Assassin, which drew the ire of Coach Steve Kerr who saw it as a potentially dangerous play.
“I thought it was a dangerous play,” Kerr said per MassLive. “I thought Marcus dove into Steph’s knee, and that’s what I was upset about. A lot of respect for Marcus. He’s a hell of a player, gamer, competitor. I coached him in the World Cup a few Summers ago. We talked after the game. We’re good, but I thought it was a dangerous play. I just let him know.”
The Warriors (47-23) are in the middle of a fight for the second seed in the Western Conference with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors’ offense is downright dismal without Chef Curry on the court, to make matters worse. The Warriors drop from a 114.1 offensive rating to a 103.7 rating, a difference of 10.4 points.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Warriors are optimistic that Curry will be able to return by the time the playoffs start in April. He will reportedly be seeing a specialist soon for further evaluation.
