Although numerous teams are in conversation with the Jazz to trade for Mitchell, the Knicks have emerged as the favorite and focused destination since multiple reports were made saying Utah began exploring the possibility of moving Mitchell. The framework for the trade has been discussed within the last 24 hours.
The Knicks are the popular route due to the draft capital they own — eight future first-round picks — they could use in a blockbuster trade. New York could also attach young talent like Quentin Grimes, who the Jazz are reportedly keen on adding to their roster. Utah is reportedly focused on getting draft picks and cheap young players still on rookie deals.
Utah has already traded Rudy Gobert to Minnesota and Royce O’Neale to Brooklyn this summer and is reportedly making all of their vets available in trade talks.
