REPORT: Markelle Fultz Back Practicing With Magic

One of the young pieces of the Orlando Magic core, guard Markelle Fultz is currently recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in January of 2021.

In what was looking like a breakout campaign for the former No. 1 overall pick, Fultz led the Magic to a 6-2 record to start the 2020-21 season while averaging a career-high 14.3 points and 6.1 assists per contest.

As first reported by Dan Savage of NBA.com, Fultz joined the team in Los Angeles on Friday for practice to hit milestones in his rehab process for that ACL injury. There’s still no timetable on his return, but it’s great to see him trending in the right direction.

After practice, Fultz spoke about how great it was to be back.

“It was amazing. (First off) just to be back with the team and be with my brothers and with this organization is amazing, but also just to get back into things and be on the road with these guys and get back into that process is, again, just a great experience,” said Fultz. “Again, just trying to get better, just trying to push these guys to get better, and that’s it really.”

Fultz was a full participant in this practice, taking part in everything. With as much talent as any young prospect in the league, Fultz has looked solid to this point in his career despite facing a variety of injuries. If he can stay healthy, he could emerge as a huge piece of the Orlando roster going forward.
