The Utah Jazz found a taker for Derrick Favors and was willing to pay the price for business with the Oklahoma City Thunder: a future draft pick.
The Jazz traded veteran center Derrick Favors and a future first-round pick to the Thunder for a future second-round pick and cash considerations per reports by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The trade puts Utah $13M below the luxury tax. Will likely still be a tax team if Mike Conley Jr. is brought back but at a lesser financial penalty. https://t.co/9dB6xPLUK8

The move helps Utah financially getting them around $13 million below the luxury tax in efforts to re-sign their All-Star point guard Mike Conley. For Oklahoma City, it’s business as usual as they keep collecting first-round picks. They picked up two more future first-round picks in the 2021 Draft Thursday night by trading their No. 16 pick Alperen Sengun to the Houston Rockets. Prior to draft night and this Favors deal, the Thunder possessed a whopping 36 picks over the next seven years.
Always family 🖤

Favors re-signed as a free agent with Utah last offseason to backup Rudy Gobert after one season with the New Orleans Pelicans. He averaged 5.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
