Deemed one of the Raptors’ most favorable players in franchise history, the team might be looking into a possible Kyle Lowry trade in the foreseeable future, per CBS Sports:
“There is a portion of Raptors personnel, league sources said, that believes the franchise should bid its beloved All-Star farewell and begin Toronto’s next chapter in earnest.” Per Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer.
The six-time All-star has been one of the most important components keeping the Raptors team together while also winning a championship alongside former teammate, Kawhi Leonard, back in 2019.
According to Sam Quinn of CBS Sports, the Raptors have formed a team consisting of younger players with Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet who are both 26, and OG Anunoby who is 23. The team could be looking to take advantage of their fresh talent by building around them.
It was only a year ago that Lowry agreed to a one-year extension with the Raptors. The guard could potentially have a few options, only if cap space does not pose as an issue considering most teams are maxed out.
Whether or not Lowry will be placed in the market remains unclear considering there haven’t been any serious notions regarding the guard and a possible trade.
