Hoops fans hoping for more dramatic postseason series were happy to see Saturday night’s action unfold as both trailing clubs knotted their series heading forward. The Raps followed up their miraculous Game 3 win with a solid showing in Bubble Boston while the Nuggets announced themselves loud and clear in their battle with the Clips.
We broke down Saturday’s games here:
No. 2 Raptors 100 at No. 3 Celtics 93
Series tied 2-2
Fuelled by OG Anunoby’s miracle Game 3 winner, the Raptors looked renewed in their Saturday night bid against the Celtics. The Raps took advantage of Boston’s inability to connect from deep to build out a third quarter lead and not look back. The C’s starters shot 5-for-29 from beyond the arc while Toronto managed to hit 17 triples despite a sub-.400 mark from the field. Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 24 while Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry each had 23.
No. 3 Nuggets 110 at No. 2 Clippers 101
Series tied 1-1
The Nuggets absolutely obliterated the favored Clippers in the first quarter of their Game 2 matchup Saturday, ending the quarter with a 19-point lead. While Los Angeles would slowly claw back at the deficit to the point where they trailed by only five, Denver managed to hold on. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic looked customarily brilliant, the former with 27 points, the latter with 26 and 18 rebounds. The Clips’ dynamic duo was considerably less impressive. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard combined to shoot just 11-for-36 from the field.
