The Brooklyn Nets have snagged their first free agent of the 2021 offseason, signing former San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills to a two-year deal worth $12 million with a player option his second season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The lone player still on the roster from the Spurs’ 2014 championship team, Mills chose Brooklyn as his next stop over the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.

A marksman from downtown, Mills will bolster the Nets spacing and back court depth, giving Brooklyn’s big three a knock-down shooter to kick it to in the corner. The 10-year vet hit a career-high 161 three’s last season and shot 41.3 percent on catch-and-shoot three’s.
Mills averaged 10.8 points per game along with 2.4 assists in his final season with the Spurs.
The signing of Mills has skyrocketed the Nets tax bill according to Bobby Marks, who projects their tax bill to increase from $92.6 million to $121.8 million.
