Amidst the rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s free agency in 2021, Heat president Pat Riley knows where his priorities lie.
In a postseason press conference, Riley said that the Heat will focus on keeping their core group together this offseason.
“We know what our priorities are…It is to take care of the players that we have, that we have to make decisions on almost immediately. We know Bam has a decision to make and we do with him. We know the guys that have sacrificed for us that we really like, our free agents, especially Goran.”
With guys like Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and others, the Heat have great chemistry and play well together. Adebayo is due for a new contract, and Dragic is someone they want to bring back in free agency.
While it’s likely that Miami is monitoring the Antetokounmpo situation, keeping their current core together will be crucial leading up to that potential opportunity.
