Despite not making it out of the first round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs, earning a playoff berth for the second straight season is a positive sign for the Orlando Magic. They’re steadily progressing as a franchise and remaining competitive, demonstrating an aptitude for player development all the while and playing with the swagger of top team.
That they’re doing all this without a superstar is even more impressive. It can’t be said that the Magic will be competing for a championship anytime soon but what they’ve done with their roster so far deserves more recognition.

Magic Draft Needs
The Magic have a bunch of players that can get to the rim off-the-dribble but they don’t have any that excel from 3-point range outside of Evan Fournier. If Orlando can draft one or two strong perimeter shooters, it will go a long way towards improving their offensive efficiency and spacing the floor for their athletic slashers.
With both D.J. Augustin and Michael Carter-Williams entering free agency this offseason, the Magic also need to address their point guard depth. That said, Orlando may be able to solve both issues with the same pick.
If so, the Magic would be wise to try and find an athletic forward that can mimic Jonathan Isaac’s play. Isaac will miss the entire 2020-21 season after tearing his ACL and meniscus in August.
