Just as the League’s top hoopers took over the Big Apple during the NBA All-Star weekend festivities, so did Turner Sports and its NBA on TNT crew. The ubiquitous signage could easily be spotted throughout the city.
The takeover included over 11,000 yellow and green taxis carrying digital tops with 30-second spots, as well as providing live scoring updates from the NBA All-Star Game.
New York City’s double-decker tourist buses also had their share of NBA on TNT flavor, as its LED screens provided a live stream of the weekend’s festivities, along with video highlights and social updates.
LED screens with similar functions could also be found on New York City’s famous subway system.
Among the uniquely cool initiatives by the NBA on TNT squad were the barbershop viewing parties held in Brooklyn and Harlem. It provided free haircuts (and giveaways) to fans on the evenings of Thursday through Saturday. There was also a DJ on hand to add to the experience while fans watched TNT’s coverage of All-Star weekend.
