Key Offseason Decisions
- Do the Timberwolves guarantee all three of their non-guaranteed players? Naz Reid is a no-brainer. He became a rotation player by season’s end and now looks like a backup for Karl-Anthony Towns. Jaylen Nowell will probably be guaranteed as well. He’s got enough upside on a small enough contract. Jarred Vanderbilt is more of a question mark. Given the Wolves have no chance of cap space, they’ll probably bring him back as well.
- Will Minnesota be forced to match an offer sheet for either Malik Beasley or Juancho Hernangomez? Both Beasley and Hernangomez could be interesting targets for the cap space teams this summer. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see either fetch an offer sheet and for the Timberwolves to have to swallow hard on matching.
- Does Minnesota stick with the first overall pick? Teams rarely trade out of the first pick. Minnesota has a lot of holes and there are no surefire stars. Could they trade back slightly and pick up some additional assets?

Minnesota’s offseason is dependent on what they do at the draft and with their own restricted free agents. Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez played well after being acquired at the trade deadline. The should both be back, but big offer sheets could make the Wolves question matching. Kelan Martin and Jordan McLaughlin were two of the better Two-Way players, so they should both be back as well.
