Miami Heat forward Meyers Leonard will re-sign with the team on a two-year deal, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports. Leonard’s deal will come with a team option in 2021-22.
After arriving in South Beach as part of the Hassan Whiteside trade, Leonard averaged 6.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in his first season with the Heat.
Leonard’s new deal will start at $9 million, Reynolds reports, while providing the Heat with the opportunity to rid themselves of the cap hit before the anticipated 2021 free agency period.
More to come.
