Just a few weeks ago, a viral photo of Delonte West resulted in Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban lending a hand to the former Mavs guard to help him get his life back on track.
Since ending his NBA career in 2012, West has struggled with substance abuse, homelessness and bipolar disorder.
West finished his career in Dallas but not before he formed a relationship with Cuban and it was Cuban who reconnected him with his family and put him in position to enter a Florida rehab facility.
In a recent tweet giving us all an update, Cuban shared a photo of West horseback riding at the facility and taking his ‘first steps’ towards recovery.
As Cuban said, West still has a long way to go. However, these first steps are crucial if he is to get back on track. The former No. 24 pick in the 2004 NBA Draft has been given the opportunity to do just that with Cuban’s help.
