Everyone agrees that the Blazers handled this Darius Miles thing about as poorly as humanly possible.
Not only did they threaten the rest of the League with legal action should someone else sign Miles, but it was also recently reported that they tried to snag the forward off waivers with the intent being to leave him stranded on the bench so as not to adversely affect their salary cap (a move that the NBA blocked.)
Prior to Cleveland facing off against Miles and the Grizzlies last night in Memphis, LeBron James addressed the situation. Via the Akron Beacon Journal:
‘‘The way they came out and handled that situation was completely wrong,” James said. ”There was definitely a way they could handle it better. D-Miles is a good guy.”
”You have to pull for somebody like that after a situation like that. He gets some more games and he’s going to get what he deserves.”
James then promptly went out and lit up the Grizz with a triple double.
Despite their wholly inexcusable actions, however, the Portland front-office will not face any sort of punishment from the NBA. Awesome.
