LeBron James Leads Lakers Comeback With Second 50 Point Performance in Three Games
The Los Angeles Lakers have won two games this week with one strategy. Give the ball to LeBron James, get out of the way, and let him score 50 points.
The Washed King scored 50 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 122-109 victory over the Washington Wizards. At 37, he now is the oldest player in NBA history to have multiple 50 point games in a season, passing Bernard King. LeBron James-led teams have won for the 12th straight time when James has scored 50+ in a night.
He’s now the first Laker player to hit the 50 point plateau in back-to-back home games since the late Kobe Bryant did so in April 2007. James also scored a season-high 56 in a win over Golden State last weekend.

“We just needed to pick our energy up and get more detailed about how we wanted to attack the Wizards. We did that, especially in the third quarter,” said James on taking over the game offensively, per ESPN. “I was able to hit a hot streak at one point. I just tried to stay in that zone as long as possible and hit a couple.”
Frank Vogel spoke on what many NBA counterparts are thinking about James’ brilliance, including The King personally erasing a seven-point halftime deficit with 12 straight points as a part of a 22-8 Lakers run to put the game away.
“He’s really good at basketball, that LeBron James,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. “I think what stands out to me is the league has never seen a player at his stage of his career do what he’s doing. Just an incredible, unbelievable, epic performance.”

James and the Lakers go back on the road to take on the team with the NBA’s best record in the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
