Charlotte Hornets rookie point guard LaMelo Ball has quickly risen up the ranks to become of the league’s most sensational players. Flash and flair meet stats and substance when it comes to the youngest Ball brother, who has a death-grip on his starting spot after being moved into the lineup on Feb. 1.
If he looks smooth, confident and dominant on the court, the numbers do anything but paint a different picture.
According to ESPN’s Stats & Info team, Ball became the third teenager to play at least 10 games in a calendar month and average at least 20.0 points, 6.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game in that stretch.
The two other players to record those numbers: Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
While Ball may not have the brawn of LeBron or the accolades of Doncic, a decorated player in the EuroLeague before bringing his talents stateside, he’s arguably just as phenomenal a passer.
In fact, a gifted ball-handler with soft touch from the lane to the logo, Ball could actually be a better offensive player than both by the time he reaches his prime.
All that’s certain as of today is that you can hardly imagine a better start for the 19-year-old Chino Hills product.
